York and traditions are practically synonymous. When a student or teacher ioins forces here, he is made aware immediately of the many reasons tor the ine reputation of this school. While reviewing what has led to greatness in the past, new sources at leader- ship evaluate and constantly strive to add to the laurels ot the school. A great institu- tion of any kind does not just happen. Conscious, persistent eFlorts are required. No one here need be reminded of the rewards for the individual of the pursuit ot real scholar- ship, of intelligent participation in the many clubs and student projects groups, of the will to win in the playing of athletic contests. All are vast laboratories for the develop- ment of human understandings, initiative, leadership and constructive citizenship. The building of strengths underlies all the many traditions that are York's. After the graduate has been away for a while he looks back with pride.
