The Barons showed lheir inexperience by losing lo Wesl Aurora, I9-O, in lhe seasons opener. Pass delense appeared lo be lhe weakness ol lhe Barons, as lhe passing combinalion ol Wesl Aurora was responsible lor selling up every score. Don Andersen, Bob Caslner, Marv Reese did lhe ball carrying lor lhe Barons, while Tom Galbrailh handled lhe passing, Nexl, an improved leam losl a hearlbrealaer, 7-O, lo Elgin on lumbles, lhe coslly one being on Elgin's six-yard line. l-lallbaclc Marvin Reese scored lhe lirsl TD ol lhe season in lhe Maine game, by running six yards lhrough lhe middle.
