11:11, . eb. f .IX Sl f Q .f S Our 1946-1947 Chapter was organized September 17 with the follomdng officers: Fred Miller, president, Ronald Bull, vice-president, Ben Dlmmick, secretary, Robert Hook, treasurer, Bill Blair, reporter, and Mr. Stengel, advisor. I I On September 13-14 Bill Blair exhibited and sold his shorthorn steer to she Clinton Quad County beef show at Clinton, Iowa. On October 3 all the F.F: L. boys went to Mr, Buskirkfs purebred Hereford farm north of Chadwick, where hey learned many interesting things about the feeding-and care of the cattle A f I E. Van Fuskirk showed us how to groom the cattle for the show ring. At the ectional vocational fair at Freeport, Illinois, Fred Miller showed the Grand o 1 0 p on Grade Dalry Helfer, a holsteln. The five boys, who went to .the action II Leadership Training School at Pearl City, are Fred Miller, Carroll immick, Robert Hook, Bill Blair, and Ellis Pickens. Eighteen F. F. A. boys attended the International Stock Show at Chicago. e went by a charter bus and stopped at the Chicago Municipal Airport. There e went to the top of one of the buildings and watched the airplanes landing nd taking off. From the airport we went to Swift's Meat Packing Plant and, atched the hogs and cattle being slaughtered and processed. The afternoon was t pen watching the horse show. The green hand initiation was held January 14, 1947. The new members were award Johnson, Darrell Gaar, Arnold Sikkema, Fay Ashby Merle Bielcma Donald 1ess, and Paul Hartman. Two new members transferred from other ,schools re Willard La Due f Ch ' ' rom adwlck and Junior Potter from Lanark. , The grain and poultry judging contest at Dakota was held February 15, with xul Hartman, Bernard Hartman. Leland Housenga, Fred Miller, and Alfred Dykstra I the grain team and Ellis Pickens, Carroll Dimmick Arnold sikkems D ll, o arre Lar, and Ben Dlmmick on the poultry team. The grain team took 6th, place, Lilo the poultry team took 16th place. Other activities for the year included a Ames on December 20, and a pest eradictation ,is contest ended with Ag I the winners. we plan to organize the 4-H through the F. on a project tour. we went to Orgeon with iry and Fat Stock Contest on May 6. In June we hope to go to the state judging the University of Illinois in Urbana. ie are grooming our beef, dairy and ine projects for tho Vocational Fair at Freeport, and we hope,to be repres- ted at the State Fair at Springfield.
