Punch was served throughout the evening. 'f-1 R peting to bring in the most sales. ggi I. r .344 At the end of Gthe campaign, the freshmeg exceeded K2 'gf ' -xugpzavf'-: their quota of Q,1.2 ,by Q,-1.50 totaling ',,l 5.50. The F' QS' S egg, I I sophomores brought ln :bug luzxlors, 24,95 and seniors, ,261 'SSS ' is, 'Sp This makes a total of ., -0. O. Jeanne Elliott, who Alf , I WS 1 'QQ received 362 credits, totaling T 2.50, chose as her prize 'S 'S E ,Q S . I a radio. The freshmen received the usual treat of ice ,gt ,X y cream and cookies. N S ty weeks, and now the festive day had arrived. Y Promptly at two o'c1ock, ever one assembled in the stud hall. ,, Q Easy' J After the singing of popular carolz, Kiss Meyers entertained is vith. 4Q5's E - ly a few games in which all participated. Next on the program there 5 ga were three humorous selections: 'Just Before Christmas' by Fay Ashbyg 'The V 2 5 - Night Before Christmas' by Merle Elelemag 'The Day After Christmas' by Darrell X, ssg , Geary a duet, 'White Chr1stmas', by Jeanne Elliott and Gayle Grimm. The other Q As numbers were serious in keeping with the real Christmas spirit of the Christ tg, y child whose birthday we were observing. These included 'Llllie's and Annle's s S'g5 Eg Prayer' by Geraldine Smithg Van Dyke's 'Keeping Christmas' by Leona Curleyg 'he S , Q' sys Innkeeper's Lament' by Wilma Bielema, and 'Just Another Roy by Verna Pickens. f has Qiei Us Leota Housenga read to us the passages of the Christmas story from the Bible. lx H s jgfs, 'Last but not least Herbert St. Ores, Jr., sang 'Silent Night lsllens Noxl ln 1 ' S Sy Latin. , S igel Following the program the gifts which had been placed under the tree were SS fx, passed out and everyone was busy opening packages and admiring the presents. A X QW Later we enjoyed refreshments of ice cream furnished bv the faculty and esp 5 S855 453 5 at S r. cookies made by the Home Economics Class. Then everyone turned homeuard look- ing with happy expectations toward vacatlong but knowing that when January 6 rolled around, they would be glad to be together again. Hayrides have always been a traditional American pastime lr rural areas, so on November 8 several of the students gathered together at Y.C.H.S. for an all school hayride. Through the generosity of Harvey Seim and Jake McGinnis who furnished the hayracks and Henry Blelema and Harold Daehler, who furnished' A ij the tractors, we journeyed into the good old country. After we had the exper- ' 1' 'ience of a flat tire we all piled on one hayrack for the trip back to Y.C.H.S., X where the rest of the evening was spent in dancing.
