Here, we met o man of many focets; a man of dreams and goals; and a man who has pledged himself to the continued progress of York College. As President, Dr. losue hos seen masters level work become a fact. The MBA program has grown strong. Under his direction, a four-year nursing curriculum has grown, ond this year, a computer information systems program has evolved. Also, o sound minors program has been developed. He continues to promote a strong, pre-determined core of liberal arts which is re- quired by all majors. In this area, he gives credit to the firm support he enjoys from the faculty. Also, Q further achievement during his term hos been the offiliotion of York College with other schools, notably Columbia University School of Engineering, American University, Villonovo, and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. losue ' s goals for the future ore both personal and professional. Professionolly, he looks forward to additions to and the enhancing of the academic programs. His admitted personal gools ore to see York College more widely recognized throughout the country, and to see York College gain admission to the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference. There is also Robert losue the fund raiser. A strong endowment program is a must, and in this area he is a tireless performer. His goal — on endowment program that equals o one year budget. Finally there is Robert losue the teacher. He does not maintain on aloof distance from his students. Dr. losue still finds rime to reach o moth class every semester. He speaks with en- thusiasm of working with his students. Under the direction of Robert losue, York College will continue to grow; and it will be o ploce where the students may grow also. 12 President losue 1 Deon Williom A. His first two years of undergraduate work were spent at Columbus: the last two years at Boldwin-Wollace in Berea, Ohio Dr Polk was a pre-med biology major, ond hod even opplied to medical school. Then two quarters before graduation, I looked around of what I wos doing . . thought I was missing something in life With oil of the sociol unrest of the sixties, he felt his sociology courses seemed ro offer solid theories and concepts, the sociology professors seemed to be relevant people ' Dr Polk graduated from Baldwin-Wallace in 1970 with a B,5. in biology, ond o decision to pursue his study of sociology. York ' s soccer ream did not fore as well as hoped after last year ' s highly successful year. The 1962 teom hod only one member returning from lost year ' s strong defense; thus, they relied heavily this year on new people to keep the boll out of the net. In ten gomes, York lost seven by one goal and one in overtime. When a team loses so many by so little, the term ' snake bit ' is brought up. And with the team having the thought in their head, they were responsible for many mental errors. However, the team rallied bock in the gome against Millersville and shut them and the next op- ponent out! Maybe the season was a disappointment, but the players have to know thot deep down in their hearts they gove it one heck of a shot. s o TEAM CAPTAINS: Hans Koyser, Scooter Forling, and John Harvey Botrom Row: Morio Moldonodo, Scooter Forling, Lou Romono. Soccer 117 c This year ' s cross country team allowed its record to speak for itself. Posting 14-6 mark, the men had one of the best seosons ever at YCP. But the high point of the year was a fourth place finish at the Mason-Dixon meet. This is usually dominated by perrenial powers, but YCP hung tough and beat some of the favorites. Strong performances were shown by Stella, Mingoro, Sogan, and Scifers. But the whole team admits that this year it was a ' teom effort year. ' YCP also had a women ' s cross country team to be proud of this year. Despite turnout problems, the women mode o significant improvement over the post year. This group was the hardest working group ever, and the competitively oriented. Coach Joquet credits Dorlo Berkowitz with influencing the good attitudes of the others. But the biggest mark of this season was that in 1979 gool wos set to hove a woman break 21 minutes on our course, and the first five finishers of this year all broke the time. So, watch out next year, the Spartan harriers promise to be even tougher. c TEAM CAPTAINS: Tom Jones and Chuck Stella Bottom Row: Cooch Joke Joquet, Sue Clork.
