The two years for the Sopho- mores have gone rapidly and they have been marked by many changes on the campus. We hear remarks that things never change at York, but we know differently when we meditate on the point. At least three new facilities have appeared on the scene — the Soccer Field, Baseball Diamond and the addition to the Gymnasium. We are all proud of these, and the pool is very conducive to its purposes. Many new programs have been added during our stay such as a four year course in Business Ad- ministration. Even though there are no grad- uates in this curriculum in 1970, we are sure that it will appeal to a great number of stu- dents in the future. We feel that the Faculty and Administration are dedicated to the growth in size and stature for York College each year. We want you to know that we are as proud of our College as you are. The Student Senate was confronted with numerous decisions this year. However, the ideals of the Senate as a representative body of the students were not compromised. It has strived to enhance the academic and social life of the students here at York, and in doing so has further strengthened its power for the future. The ' 69 season for the York soccer team was one of glorious victories. The combined efforts of Mr. Cummings ' fine coaching and the inspiration of co-captains Jim May and Chuck Richards, along with the never-tiring hustle of the players made a united, hard- working team. Jim May, from Dover, broke two scoring records and was named by the All-American selection committee as a member of the All- East team. He scored 26 goals in 10 games and had 7 goals in a single game against George Mason College. Since this team is in fine academic standing and all are returning, York fans can be assured of another fine sea- son next year. Jaquet achiev- ed a hard fought winning season. Captain Fred Bianco and Terry Lieb were the only returning lettermen from the previous sea- son. Despite this, the young team posted 8 wins and 7 losses, and placed third in team competition at the Region 19 of N.A.I.A. meet at Millersville. Freshman Gary Townsend was the leading runner for York crossing the finish line first 11 times in 14 meets, and establishing three new course records. The highlight of the season came when York claimed three vic- tories in a quadrangular meet at Allentown driving its record to 5-4, and on to a winning season. ver and through the woods . . . : m : . :i :. But with grim determination and hustle Jack Jaquet ' s squad posted a fine 13-11 record. Dropping Jr. colleges and adding bigger four year colleges and universities to the schedule made their going tougher than in previous years. Highlighting the year was the hard fought victory over the much taller Quantico Marine team. Good outside shooting and fast breaking paid off, as it did throughout the season, as York posted a pulsating 71-69 decision over the Marines. Coach Jaquet is looking forward to next season with the addition of some fine talent from the ' 69- ' 70 freshman team. 97 Wrestling . . Why don ' t they give us hamburgers?? Under the direction of Coach David Steiler, the team experienced triumph, defeat, and more importantly a growing enthusiasm for true athletic competition. There were many accomplishments this first year as a four year college, and the team had a very successful season, with a record of 9-3. Even now along with Coach Steiler, the team is looking forward to the return next season of the entire squad and another winning season. Many spectators, and, of course, all non- followers of wrestling fail to realize that the actual matches represent a very small fraction of the time involved in this sport.
