Third row: U. Halke, D. Shuman, J. Wood, W. Rawlings, A. Poet, F. Molz. Student Senate The Student Senate is the student governing body of the junior college. Under its jurisdiction are all the student activities. The Student Senate is responsible for distributing the activities ' fees, for giving honorary awards, and for planning college social events. In the spring the governing body goes on a Retreat for the purpose of making tentative plans for the following year and for making changes in the student government con- stitution. The Orientation dance and the May Ball are two of the Student Senate ' s primary social functions. In addition, one of the main college events sponsored by the Senate this year was the college carnival held on the new campus in April. The purpose of the carnival was to raise money for the College Development Fund and to establish a new tradition for future gen- erations of York Junior College students. OFFICERS: A. Poet, B.
