YC Grateful to Gurganuses and Darnells The yearbook staff would like to dedicate the 1974 Crusader to two couples who have been great assets to York College. After 13 years as assistant to the president, Howard Gurganus resigned january 1. Gurganus came to York from Chicago after his retirement to work in the area of administrative council, public relations and college publica- tions. His wife, Dorette, served as secre- tary to the president. The Gurganuses did all this and more for only a token salary. Another couple we would like to salute are Mr. and Mrs. Scotty Darnell. The Darnells leave YC after five years of dedicated service as cafeteria managers. The long, hard hours put in by this couple are appreciated by all the students. Taking a break from their sometimes 15 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week job are Scotty and jerry Darnell. The two easily became friends with the students and served also as Frater and Lambie sponsor. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gurganus retired from York College to help establish a Christian Bible Camp in Alabama in january 1974. The college auditorium was dedicated to this couple during ,. J I L, ,av lectureship named Gurganus Hall. ' V n fi gl .il L , Al K . .--- A f. Serving in such a difficult job yet always having a smile is one reason the Darnells were so appreciated.
