For twenty-three years I have collected many memories as superintendent of schools in Yoakum. I am happy that so many of them are sweet memories of good people, industrious stu- dents, students who strive to make life pleasant for those around, and Students eager to gain knowledge. Yes, life in the Yoakum schools has been most pleasant as I have seen great things accomplished in the classrooms, in the music hall, and on the fields of sports. While there have been bitter moments, which I do not like to recall, the sweet memories which I have stored up will be a sustaining influ- ence when the trials and tribulations of life descend in the years ahead, 1- . ? x Cifafed I QA! Songs v -7 MEMORIES Treasured memories of school days are those tempered by duty, discipline, understand- ing, justice, and love as forged by classmates, friends, parents, and teachers. The bitter memory burns deep and leaves an ugly scarg the happy memory creates an inner peace and joy and enriches all future days. May the covers ofyour memory book enclose d ea r friends, laughter, a very few tears, good times, knowledge plu s wisdom, and peace with God and man.
