Yeshiva University oo » of the president mm TO THE YESHIVA COLLEGE CLASS OF 1988 It is with the mixed feelings of genuine fondness and anticipated nostalgia that I bid you farewell as you are graduated from Yeshiva College. Your alma mater will miss you, and await your return as active and committed alumni. You take your leave in the Hebrew year 5748, the last three numerals of which are written as tismach , be happy. what a happy omen, and what good advice! Maimonides teaches us that there is a difference between simchah and hoi lelut , authentic happiness and spurious happiness — just rowdiness and buffoonery. My wishes for each and every one of you is that you achieve the tismach , that your lives be blessed by genuine simchah : of the heart and the mind, in plenty and in comfort, allowing you not only to build wonderful Jewish families and fine careers in the professions and business, but also to remember that the core of joy is: Talmud Torah . Remain connected to that fountain of eternal wisdom, and your lives will be genuinely happy! NL:is 500 West 185th Street, New York, N.Y. 10033 • (212) 960-5280
