Message From Rabbi Lamm YESHIVA UNIVERSITY 500 WEST 185th STREET NEW YORK N V 10033 TO THE YESHIVA COLLEGE CLASS OF 1984: I congratulate you on the successful completion of your college careers, conducted in the spirit of Torah U-madda. If taken seriously, the dual program is an onerous one, and its mastery is deserving of felicitations by your family, friends, and especially faculty. The times we live in are critical enough, even without the ominous overtones of George Orwell ' s famous novel which lends this calendar year such unhappy literary distinction. They will require of you not only technical and professional knowledge, but also wisdom, insight, and a finely honed spiritual intuition. We hope that you attained the beginnings of the former in your Yeshiva College classes, and that you took the first steps towards the latter in your Torah studies. May your own growth in both areas give you the intellectual, personal, and spiritual wherewithal to confront the great issues of your generation and master them in a way that will contribute le ' hagdil Torah u-le ' haadirah. Cnrd i ai 1 y ymirg } , NORMAN LAMM President 27
