Dedication ny cf the teachers at Yeshiva are character!, dedication to the University and its students. Dr. Norman Schh one such individual who merits special recognition. The first encounter that students have with Dr. Schlessberg can be a hi. startling. In the classroom, he is powerful, dynamic, and above demanding. No amount of pre- class preparation seems to satisfy him. It is only after some time that students realize and appreciate the deep love kat Dr. Schlessberg harbors for Yeshiva University and its students. Rs Dr. Schlessberg single-handedly created the Accounting program at Yeshiva. Under his able leadership, the program is one of the fastest growing programs at Yeshiva. In addition, he personally coordinates the only on -campus recruiting program, a program with a 100 percent success rate to date. He is constantly running, phoning, and badgering until every one of his boys and girls has a job. In recognition of his dedication to each individual student at Yeshiva, and to the institution as a whole, the Senior class of 1984 dedicates this yearbook to Dr Norman Schlessberg.

mm In Memoriam Throughout our years at Yeshiva University, we the students, have been blessed with many new additions. Among them are the Max Stern Athletic Center and the Sy Syms Marketing Chair. Unfortunately, ive have also been hit by many losses which no dona- tion from a philanthropist can replace. These losses are not financial ones but rather those of great human beings. Hoivever, each one of these persons has left us a great legacy for which he will be fondly remembered in our hearts. Rabbi Morris J. Besdin, z ' tl, directed the fames Striar School of General fewish Studies for twenty-five years. That number itself is quite impressive but Rab- bi Besdin accomplished a far greater amount than just the accumulation of statistical data. Rabbi Besdin not only formulated high academic standards in developing his JSS program, but also felt personally responsMe for each and every student, thus combining two often con- trary characteristics in his job as mentor. Soft-spoken in manner, his personality created a popularity unparalleled among students, alumni, and colleagues throughout the University. Rabbi Besdin ' s contribution, not only to Yeshiva University, but also to all of KM Yisrael, will secure an honored place for him among the giants of Jewish Education. Rabbi Jeruchem Gorelick, z ' tl, was also affiliated with RIETS for forty years, un- til his ill-fated passing. Rabbi Gorelick studied in Poland at the Yeshiva of Radun, which had been founded by the Chafetz Chaim, and later studied under Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky, the leading Posek in pre-war Poland and Lithuania. When he arrived in the United States, Rabbi Gorelick served as spiritual leader of Congregation Binai Israel, in the West Bronx, as well as teaching at numerous yeshivot in the Metropolitan Area. His years at Yeshiva University were just as fruitful and his position as Rosh Yeshiva will never be completely replenished. ; Rabbi Aaron Shatzkes, z ' tl, was a member of the RIETS faculty for forty years. Rabbi Shatzkes was a descendant of a great Talmudic family, among them Rabbi Abraham Aaron Shatzkes, the renowned spiritual leader of Vilna, Lithuania, and Rabbi Moses Shatzkes, the famous Lomza Rav. Our own Rav Shatzkes continued that great Talmud tradition which can he attested to by the vast amount of knowledge his talmidim took with them from his shiur room. Rav Shatzkes ' presence will be sorely missed.
