America ' s Roslici Ycshiva and pulpit Rabbis of tomorrow arc today ' s dcni cns of the Beit Hamedrash, whose Torah and ethical behavior will have been carefully nurtured at Yeshiva University, imagine. A single such young man has the ability to produce a tremendous impact; a group of dozens and hundreds can mean a rejuvenation of Orthodoxy in America. indeed, a rejuvenation has already begun thanks to the dedicated efforts of previous Yeshiva graduates. Some of us will join them in inspiring American youth to seek Torah and in guiding American Jewish families along a path of true Jewish observance. We, too, will travel far to become Rabbis in spiritually bar- ren communities bringing with us the particular spark of our personalities, our talents, our dedication and dreams. We will write and speak, chide and praise, coax and demand, and hopefully change things for the better.

Medicine, law, and political involvement are far from everything that instill Yeshiva ' s unique influence on us and, indirectly, on the world; these are merely some of the more blatant examples. Perhaps the most blatant example of all is in the area of Torah and moral behavior. For the past four years at Yeshiva has molded many a stu- dent into a better, more deeply committed Jew. Maybe the nights spent shteiging away in the Beit Medrash evoked a change in our very beings. The beautiful Shiurim, heard from some of the most distinguished Roshei Yeshiva in the world, have undoubtedly made strong and lasting impres- sions on us all. Somehow, magically, over the years the metamorphosis has occurred. Many students have now advanced to the point where they can proudly declare that they know how to learn. And a few have even reached the higher level where they realize that there is much to be studied and a great deal to be accomplished before they can be considered true and respected Talmidei Chachamim. All this augurs well for the future.

But our influence, we forsee, will not be limited to America; Israel welds a magnetic force on us of which only a few previous generations have been privileged to ex- perience. That of which our grandparents could only dream, we can live. Our practice of law or medicine and our profes- sional careers may be carried out in our homeland. Our learning and teaching of the Torah can be performed in the land where many of us studied for a year or two before entering Yeshiva University. Many of us spent a summer or two in Israel working for volunteer groups such as T ' chiya and other organizations in which we were able to reach and develop meaningful relationships with children from all walks of Israeli life. In Israel we will be able to join other alumni who have made Aliyah and have contributed greatly to Israeli society. Yeshiva University has provided many selfless men and women who now enrich Israel with their professional skill s and talents.
