It ' s much easier to get a stern girl ' s number in the dorm. — just jot down any number found In a dorm phone booth, there ' s not greater thrill than walking Into a darkened morg lounge and being surprised by an engagement celebration and having a bottle of champagne poured over your head, (so what if you ' re not the chasan). of course, if a student wants to get any serious studying done, or wants to get to sleep before 3:00 a.m., he ' d be better off staying home, card games, jam sessions can be heard till the wee hours of the morning, but the most important aspect Is the bond of friendship that is formed in the course of the four year residency at a yeshiva dormitory. keep thy friend under thy own life ' s key. measure not dispatch by the times of sitting, but by the advancement of business. francis bacon one of the most unsettling aspects of the yeshiva experience was dealing with the administration, upon entering yeshiva college, one immediately comes into contact with the bureaucra- tic quagmire of the registrar ' s office, the registrar ' s office specializes in producing red tape and endless forms, during 4 years, virtually every student has had the opportunity to encounter the full range of imaginable mishaps — incorrect class— admit cards, erroneous computer printouts, fouled-up tran- scripts requests, and on and on. these difficulties are compounded by the uncooperative nature of many of the secretaries, indeed it is difficult to understand how rabbi edelstein, who always goes out of his way to assist students, was ever hired for a position in the registrar ' s office, his demeanor is totally incongruous with the lack of concern displayed by other personnel, the state of affairs in the registrar ' s office is symbolized by the construction of a wall partitioning students from office personnel. before i built a wall, I ' d ask to know, what i was walling in, or walling out.
