What has it been? What has it meant? What have we made of Yeshiva? A warm, living, meaningful form of Judaism was expounded in certain classes — but honest effort was needed to benefit from such instruction. Those of us sincerely interested in strengthening religious feelings found here a source of knowledge and inspiration. Yet there were others, unwilling, unable — uninterested. For them it was sufficient to go through the motions of cramming facts into their heads and regurgitating them into examination booklets.

Yeshiva ' s essence is eclectic. Composed of so many diverse elements, it presents varying images to different groups. Four years out of our twenty-one hiave been spent Inere; four years of fulfillment, frustration, enlightenment, and education. It is man ' s nature to comment on wfiat has been familiarto him: so it has always been; so it is with us. We have had the opportunity of living Yeshiva, indeed, of being Yeshiva. As the characters most completely immersed and involved in the Yeshiva scene, we feel qualified to comment on what Yeshiva is, and if not that, certainly on what Yeshiva has been to us. We know. We ' ve been there.

Some sought knowledge, others— grades, and yet others — nothing. To each of us Yeshiva meant just what he wanted to make of it. If we are to share the credit for our academic success, we must also accept our share of the blame for what failures we have suffered at the hands and minds of Yeshiva.
