G-rf created man in his image, in the image of G-d He created him. Man was created in the image of G-d but each man also has an image unique to himself as an individual. If man is to fulfill his purpose in life, which is to attain closeness to G-d, he must fulfill himself. To accomplish this, man must first crystallize the reality of his own being which is possible mainly through positive dynamic reac- tions to confrontations. The college years are a time in a man ' s life when he is perhaps most receptive to confrontations and most uninhibited in his reactions to them. Are vital confrontations an integral part of the col- legiate experiences? Yes, if the acquisition of knowledge involves not only the aim to help towards a better under- standing of the world around us, but also the aim to help in the development of ideas and opinions; yes, if receptions, clubs, dramatic societies, athletics, theater parties, help towards a greater awareness of one ' s self, one ' s fellow men, and a greater awareness of the impor- tance of the interplay of human relationships. It is apparent that the primary concern of a college should be to provide opportunities for confrontations. But of equal significance is that the composition of its adminis- tration, faculty, and student body should be such as to create an atmosphere which inspires students to react to the confrontations with intelligence and vigor.
