And the third Hit my friend. He fell, My friend, lnto the arms of his sobbing wife. And then, He was no more. They placed him in a casket, My friend, And they bore him to a waiting plane. He said nothing. He lay still, for My friend Was no more. They bore him to his house, My friend, They placed him there to rest. We saw my friend there, Lying in the casket, Wfith a bullet hole through his head. We saw him there, And wept, for our friend Was no more. They bore him from his home And placed him under the dome Of the place where he had worked. They draped a flag over his casket, My friends, They placed an honor guard near him. His friends came to him then- To watch, to grieve. They came to respect him, To pray for him,'for my Fallen friend, For he was no more. His wife, his sorrowing wife, Came to him Under that dome.
