These ruins were our gift from the Anti-semites of the generations. Yet we discarded these ruins of despair and grasped again for the heritage that we would ensure our survival, the heritage that had ensured our survival against persecution throughout the centuries-the Torah. our Tree of Life. This is the source from which we and our parents have drawn life. Every action we performed is influenced by the laws of the Torah. The Torah is the consummation of all our desires. it eliminates the waste and keeps only the good. It is the great teacher that teaches us what is good: what is life. The Torah is the past, present and future-not just of our nation as a whole but of every one of us. It is our own personal source. and. through our fulfillment of it, It takes on for us its own personal meaning.
