BASEB LL 67-68 The Yatesville Nine opened its baseball season with enthusiasm, and the boys' spirits were not damp- ened when they were defeated in two practice games with R. E. Lee. Ourboys were defeated 9--10 in their first region game with Schley County, but they bounced back to defeat Unadilla 4--2 and Schley County 5--4 in their next two contests. They lost their fourth game to Unadilla, and the regular season ended with Una- dilla holding the sub-region title. However, one of their players was declared ineligible, and our boys found themselves in possession of the crown. On the last Wednesday in April the jackets faced East Coweta in the region playoff, and the happy boys broughthorne the 1st place Region 4-C trophy. State eliminations began in May, and Yatesville struggled with Fairmount for the privilege of compet- ing in the State Finals. The jackets didn't quite make it, but they were still Number One with us! The members of the team from 1. to r. are: S. I-Iammonds, C. Hewett, J. Elder, G. McKinley, J. Lively, R. Bickley, B. White, R. Ellington, B. Hollo- way, D. Eldridge, K. Stansell, L. Ward, R. Vinson, Coach Sheets. gig., .AA
