They kept the spirit high, even in our losing games The squad helps to make the team, for they provide the players with inspiration. Without their push before and after every ballgame the team would never have been victorious. The cheerleaders were well trained by their sponsor Mrs. Allen whose great efforts proved rewarding. Earnings from stufnmer cake sales provided the squad with funds for two uniforms. The squad was hi -lighted this year by their mascot, Lisa jackson. Lisa really added enthusiasm to the squad. The cheerleaders were led by Judy S. Capt. and Deborah R. Co-Captain. Others on the squad were from QL. On a beautiful sunny day the region 4C tennis matches were held. Because difficulties at the Weaver Park Courts the teams split up, and singles were played at West Side Park while doubles were played at Silvertown. Girls doubles team, Brenda Harp and Mary Jo Markham, took second in the region as did the boys doubles, Kenneth Stansell and Steve Hammond, and the boys singles, Chris Hewett. Susan Ward walked away with first place in the region which entitled her to go to the State Class C tennis matches in Macon. There she brought home the second place state medal. E. Lee. Ourboys were defeated 9--10 in their first region game with Schley County, but they bounced back to defeat Unadilla 4--2 and Schley County 5--4 in their next two contests. They lost their fourth game to Unadilla, and the regular season ended with Una- dilla holding the sub-region title. However, one of their players was declared ineligible, and our boys found themselves in possession of the crown. On the last Wednesday in April the jackets faced East Coweta in the region playoff, and the happy boys broughthorne the 1st place Region 4-C trophy. There is a deep sense of real accomplishment. There is a natural concern for tomorrow and the challenges it holds. May each and every graduate look into the future with the knowledge that they may be the instruments of a better world. It is a different world! It is a broadening world you're entering. We believe in the ideals and the charac ter and the good judgement of youth and wish you wisdom and success in your goals. The Yatesville High Annual Staff wa: , fl Q s HH MR. AND MISS Y.H.S.
