Collectively and as indivi- duals you have been great. Without any hesitation, I can say that you are the most outstanding class l have ever worked with, either as principal or as teacher. While your class has always been held in high regard by the faculty and administration, the greatest impact of your influence on the tone of the school has been felt this year. Your mature leadership, the respect you have gained and enjoy from the underclassmen and staff, the deep satisfaction you obviously feel from working for the welfare of the school, your cooperative spirit, your respect and concern for the feelings of others, as well as your optimistic outlook on life are all attributes of the Class of 73. P As a result of these positive and healthy attitudes, your acc- omplishments have been many. I am sure your rewards in life will be abundant. I admire you. I will miss you. I will always remember you. God bless you. Mr. nBn Q1 GN fi 5 413572 Q 2 QYN I. -fga 'f 4. ,-A f- f.fpfw.-A, QW ' if H f' ' we I I : A 5 . . ' gin' Lx' - E r fl . '11 4' S Math Team Office Assistants Library Aides H PPENINGS AT YHS Once again the kids of YHS have sweated their way through another year of activities. In 1972 - 1973 there were fewer than in years before, but the ones that didn't die proved very productive. The National Honor Society made several big accomplishments. They raised four hundred dollars in the drive for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and sixteen hundred dollars for the March of Dimes. The NHS took on the sponsorship of Anita Ashley, a Navajo Indian girl, and hopes to help her in the years to come. The induction ceremony this year was held December 19 and the thirteen new inductees brought the total membership to thirty- two. The Latin Club held suppers, slave days, a rummage sale, apple sales, raffles, and finally reached their goal - April vacation in Greece! They were accompanied by the Drama Club which raised money by sponsoring the Variety Show which turned out exceptionally well. The audience got a lot of good laughs and the large cast enjoyed performing. The Drama Club also presented an old-fashioned melo- drama No Opr'y At the Opr'y House Tonight , which was superb. The Y-Club had a fantastic turnout for the Harlem Diplomats and WLOB games. They are also responsible for the nice programs which are sold at the home basketball games. They have always been an active group and have held true to tradition. The goal this year was to raise money for the purchase of a video- tape machine. The French Club membership dwindled from last year, but the loyal few who attended the meet- ings were determined to accomplish something. There were several good sales and plans were made to have a supper. There are hopes for a visit to Quebec City as well as to Paris for next year. The Library and Office aides are always a big help to Mrs. Burr and Mrs. Storer. This year has been no exception. The usual array of smiling faces and pleasant voices has prevailed: answering the telephone, running errands, taking attendance, general all-round book counting and placing, to men- tion but a few of their tasks. The YHS band went through another year of wild rehearsals that included spitball fights, paper airplanes, and mass exoduses to the water fountain every five minutes. Luckily the concerts managed to tum out very well. Basketball fans appreciated the fine playing of Swinging on Parade and the National Anthem. The Math team had a total of eighteen members this year. As of March 1, 1973 their team was second only Famouth in the small school division and in fourth place overall. A total of six meets were held. Only time and the Spring Supplement will tell us the final result. The Clipper Log used a new approach this year in its newspaper. It attempted to reach out into the total school community. It also tried a new way of publishing by taking on much of the responsibil- ity itself. It's small, but dedicated staff kept the Clipper Log slowly rolling up su-eam. The gut feelings of many of the students at YHS again were conveyed to us through Spinnaker, another lonely- staffed, but determined little organization seen busily buzzing around the school. The final product was well worth the blood, sweat, and tears. A busy year was had by all involved in the Student Council. The Freshman Reception, Halloween Dance, spectator buses, night meetings, the drive for Saint Jude's Children's Hospital fwith the NHSQ , a student exchange with Gorham High School, a poster contest, the Free Fare concert, community surplus food delivery, and the annual Winter Carnival which was hampered by an unusual lack of snow. Conservation Club under the able guidance of Mr. Don Miller has been working on the bottle ref- erendum and is planning more exciting events for Earth Day coming up. Lastly, but not leastly, as the old cliche goes let's mention the outstanding chorus under the dir- ection of Miss Nancy Freeman. YHS was well represented at several concerts, at the All-State Festival as well as Western Maine and the Eastern United States. This year history was made by the member- ship of six boys. Right on Chorus!! It seems like the entire school community enjoyed a year of quality work and play in a relaxed, yet extremely inspiring surge of events. Great. What else can be said. YARMOUTH CLIPPERS Fall and Winter 5 There's no game so desperate, that the wisest of wise will not take freely up for love of power, or love of fame, or merely love of play.
