The squad of thirty-six spirited players under the able coaching of john Hollingsworth, with the assistance of Mr. Embler. ended the '54 season with a 6-0-2 record and third place in Class D ratings of Eastern Massachusetts. The fine blocking and defensive work of the linemen, led by co-captain Dick Johnson, Dink Snowden, Joel Walcott, Dan Cash and Don johnson, along with the hard driving backs, Putt Smith, Bob Walcott, Dave Wood and co-captain jon Holmes, contributed greatly to the teams success. The thrilling game of the season was with Oliver Ames when Yarmouth came from behind in the closing minutes to tie the game and remain undefeated. Yarmouth closed its season with a hard-fought 26-2 victory over Provincetown on Thanksgiving morning. The American Legion honored the team in December with a banquet. The seniors were awarded jackets and the whole squad received gold footballs. - S C O R E S - YHS .......... 20 Marshfield ............ 0 YHS .......... 33 Martha's Vineyard . 6 YHS ...,...... This year, a new screen and cabinet have been added to their equipment, and they are hoping for still more additions in the years to come. They are a help to the pupils, as well as to the teachers, for we all enjoy movies, even educational ones! 64 X SENIOR PLAY XY'e certainly had a good Senior Play this year, by Jingolv Entitled Cheaper by the Dozen, it was the story of Father and Mother Gilbreth and their twelve little Bolivians. The play, directed by Mrs. Baker and Miss Tahinizian. was a smash hit? Much credit should be given to the stage, refreshments, props and costume committees. And what would we have done without the prompters?
