Established at Y-C only nine years ago, the FHA has become a real asset to the school. The annual FFA banquet on October 28 was cooked and served by the girls under the chairmanship of Pat Barr. As a money making project they had a cake and candy sale. In March, two delegates were sent to the FHA Convention. The two girls attending were -Ioaui Hagen and Margie VVyffels, accompanied by their advisor, Miss Kitchens. VVith spring, came the annual Cotton Ball, held on April 10. Serving as chairman of this event was Jerri VValker. Also, during a school assem- bly, the FHA girls modeled some of the new spring styles. The annual Parents Tea, which is one of the major events of the year, was held May 1. Although it has only been here for nine years the FHA has become one of the leading clubs at Y-C. Ruling over the prom this year were Emperor and Empress Lyman Ritter and Donna Fieselman, who were carried around the room in a rickshaw by Carrol Ritter dressed as a Chinese coolie. Japanese Gar- dens, theme of the Prom, was exotically expressed with fluorescent lighting. Countryside scenes portrayed Japanese houses, a snowcapped mountain and a big yellow moon were sketched on large panels hung at each side ofthe gymnasium. Danceable music was furnished by the Star Lighters of Vancouver. ,At the east end was a tea room, where three kimono clad girls served strawberry punch, fortune cookies, and a beautifully decorated cake. At the Junior-Senior Banquet, 'held at the American Legion Hall on April 16, Kenneth L. Holmes, dean of men at Linfield College, was the distinguished guest speaker. Other speakers were Vernon Heckman, Myrtle Sager, Jackie Sheldon, John Steward, and Dale Crawford. Roger Mar of Oriental Gardens prepared the Chinese and American food which was enjoyed by everyone.
