Seniors History In the fall of 1958 the graduating class of 1951 entered their first year of education. Four students, Velma Yates, Ronald Russell, Phyllis Mallery, and Glenn Wulf have been together all through their twelve years in school at Yamhill. The portals of Yamhill High opened wide in the fall of 1947 when thirty-seven unassured freshmen made their entrance. Lovely dark-haired Donna Beahm was carnival princess. Thelma Vandehey and Evelyn Martin were elected to the Y's Girls. Miss Patricia Apperson led our ambi- tious young officers: president, Jack Cookg vice-president, Donna Beahmg secretary, Thelma Vandeheyg treasurer, Evely: Marting and sec- geant-at-arms, Glenn Wulf. Dick Casey entered the ttermen Club. With a little more boldness than the year before, the sophomores started out with an explosion. Our officers: president, David Facklerg vice-president, Evelyn Martin, secretary, Katy Kruseg treasurer, Bryce Mitchellg sergeant-at-arms, Roger Delayg news reporter, Phyllis llsllary, and student council representative, Donna Beahm, helped Mrs. Mary Bates, our class advisor govern the class. Our charming blue eyed, dark hair- ed princess, Katy Kruse, gave her all for the carnival. Patsy Hermena and Mary Frazier were elected to the Y's Girls. Don Thompson and Keith Morton were the only two Sophomores admitted to the letterman club. Thirty-nine very confident students began their Junior year with a smile. To keep them smiling were the officers: president, Ronald Russell, vice-president, Margaret Peck, secretary, Mary Frazier, trea- surer, Jan Weing and our advisor, Mr. Don Balch. Raven-haired Delores Fackler did her best representing us at the carnival. Velma Yates and Margaret Peck were elected to the Y's Girls. Velma Yates was chosen assmstant-editor of the Tiger Lines and Rosemary Herring was chosen assistant-editor of the Ink Drops. Rosemary Herring, Evelyn Martin, Althea Wolcott and Velma Yates were added to the Quill and Scroll. Roland Russell and Glenn Wulf were admitted to the lettermen organiza- tion. The seniors were entertained by the class at a banqueig Moon- light and Roses . It was enjoyed by all that attended this unforget- table occasion. On September ll, 1950, we started our last year in high school. The student body officers from the class were: Bryce Mitchell, president, Althea Wolcott, secretary, David Fackler, business managerg and Evelyn Martin, book exchange manager. Our advisor, Mr. John Williams, governed our class with the help of the officers: president, Dick Caseyg vice- president, Delores Facklerg secretary, Evelyn Martin, treasure, Lola Beltg and sergeant-at-arms, Phyllis Mallery. Our lovely fair prin- cess, Velma Yates, was chosen queen at the Carnival. Carolyn Rice was chosen for the Y's Girls. The class was wel.l represented in sports, and David Fackler and Jack Cook were admitted to the lelizermen. The Seniors were very well entertained at a banquet given by the Juniors. In the spring the Seniors took a day off from school for their Senior skip and had a very exciting time. The climax of our years' work was graduation week, with baccalaureate. and commencement. e fast Will and Testament We, the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty One of the Yamhill Union High School, do hereby make and declare this our last will and testament, as attested on this fourth day of January: To the Junior Class -- Our Senior honor, dignity, truest fidelity, sense of humor, excellent appearance, magnificent wisdom, which are the things we treasure most. HOW TO BE THE PERFECT SUB-DEB Manners: Bounce down the hall, stepping on everybody, incurring many dirty looks and causing doors to be hastily shut. Flounoe into your seat dropping not less than three books, and continueim chew your gum loudly, popping it occasionally until you are told to spit it out, then part with only half of it so you can be told to do it again. Appearance: Come to school looking as if you had just gotten up, hair slightly combed, rouge applied to one side, your lips so red that they look like stoplights and your nose shining like grandpa's head. By the time you have continued this for a month or two, you may be assured that you will be very well-liked. REVISED ETTIEKETT FOR THE BOYS Boys, never tip your hats---it wears out the brim. Whistle all the time to show others you can---there are so many who can't. Stand around the hall in groups---it evinces a friendly spirit. Everyone should stop between classes to read the notices on the bulletin board---it proves ucommunity interestu. CHEW GUM---it sounds good. If in a hurry, throw paper on the floor--- the faculty is sure to appreciate it. lbver pick up paper from the floor ---the janitor is paid for that. Lean your chair against the wall--- this way the wall won't fall down. Come late to class---helps to avoid the rush hour. Leave books lying around---that is the only way the teachers can. tell you posses them. Always ask the teachers tore- peat the question---it shows you were preoccupied. Shuffle your feet when going down the hall---it keeps the shoes from falling off. Always talk to your neighbor when in class--- it pleases the teachers. leave Q1 your work until the last week in the six weeks period---this shows your ability to act in an emergency. Build and fly to airplanes in school-- it brings out the craftsman in you. When at the movies, always read captions aloud---it shows others your pleasing voice. Share your candy with others in class---it shows to others your unselfishness. uniors First Row: Ohler, Schmidt, Irey, Cook, Farleigh, Munro, Roberts, Hamblim, Proebstel, Payneg Second Row: Hioh, Weidner, Wrigglesworth, Nordmo, Boland, Stiller, Loftis, McColm, Densmore, Mr. McCord iAdvisorJ5 Third Row: Wade, Peloquin, Herring, Reynoldson, Gillis, Lewers, Yates. Mr, Ray McCord Mention of the night December 8, 1950 when the juniors nspoke it trippingly on the tonguen still brings a heartly chuckle to many a Yamhill resident. He or she yet remembers the comic plot of 'The Redheaded Royality from Arkansasug a thing of funand fancy, it concerned the arrival of one Prince Michaels to Furst College and the confusion surrounding his real name,u'Pr1ncBu. Impulsively the girls immediately assumed that his ill ffitting clothes and awkward manners were merely an eccentricity dis- guising his royal lineage. Sliced in with this angle were those of blackmail, and love. With the help of Fordyce Green, Prince set out to catch the villain and--of course--win the heart of Ethel. The cast, after all the grease paint was rubbed off, costumes laid away, and life brought back to normal, agreed that putting on'Uhe Redheaded Royality from Arkansasn was a grand experience. .V Why WMU S0620 S h s I V ? Mr. John Williams Battered and Frayed by all the activities crowding upon them toward the last of the year, the Seniors nevertheless presented their rip roaring comedy of the old west, nDesperate Ambrose,' on April 20. With the action laid in Dead Man's Gulch, the bloodest, Shootin'est town West of the Rockies, the cast gave a lively spirited performance. The plot centered around Ambrose Groves, the title character, who fell in and out of such great difficulties, assisted, of course by his friend, Bert Miller. Opposing these Good Guys were the Bad Guys--the onnery critter of a sheriff and his cronies, Hoctowl and Stinkweed. The ladies, who were in the dutches of the villains for a while were Beth Malone, Anne and Nancy Martin. Allikeable Negro couple, Dan'l and Posie, furnished tradittrnl comic relief. In the end, of course, the play with the Good Guys marrying, the Good Gals and Beth Malone's winning an election for probate judge. Members of the audience agreed that all who had a hand in producing nDesperate Ambrosen deserved a great deal of praise. 67 NW Z. They followed this win with a series of losses. But, in spite of these losses, the 'scrapping' Tigers were the first to score against the two top teams of the league, Banks and illamina. Much credit goes to this year's graduating seniors: David Fackler, Jack Cook, Dick Casey, and Don Thompson, who did a good job both offensively and defensively. However, special credit is given to the coaches, Mr. Don Balch and Mr. Keith Barker, for their leadership and guidance during the year. Dick Casey was chosen by the football squad as the most valuable player of the year. VARSITY SQUAD Everett Swain Right End Oliver Reynoldson . . . . . Right Tackle Darrold Garrison . . .
