They were,. namelyg Eldon Parker, Glenn Kuykenda11,Frank Wiser, Kathleen Wade,Max Noll, Doris King, Lila Hamblin, and Donald Behrman. These students were joined en route to graduation from elementary school by Bob Wade, Rosemary Jones, Ruth Patton, Norma Tucker, Richard Williams, James Parker, Lorraine Miller, La Dessa'Gray, IVHU Gillam, Lucille Fletchall, Dorothy Fredrickson, Marthiel Talbott, and Marjorie Underwood. Marjorie Underwoodled the ranks of scholarship, as this class of 28 graduated f'I'0I71 Yamhill grade school. In September, 19158, 42 freshmen enrolled at Yamhill Hi- By the end of the year, 58 of them still were to attempting absorb all that high school offered. Several freshmen were members of the Glee club and many also were active in ath- letics. Norma Tucker was an active participant of the vol- leyball team and soon developed into one of the squad's most consistent players. She was also the class nominee for Car- nival Queen. The Lettermen's organization, early in the year elected Richard Williams as the freshman representative as did the Y's girls, Marthiel Talbott. Class officers for the freshman -year fWe1'6,- President Richard Williams, vice-president, Eldon Parker: secretaryl Ivan Gillamg treasurer, Don Behrmang class representative, Frank Wiser, sergeant-at-arms, Jack Pritchett, and class ad- visor, Mr. Paul Durham. . As sophomores the class had a membership of 30. A1- though diminished in size, the class excelled in many a field, even over the upper classes. The girls-proved 'their superiority over other girls by taking the .inter-scholastic championship in both softball and volleyball. Three sopho- more girls also played varsity volleyball, and two male mem- bers of the class proved their athletic ability for which they were admitted to the Lettermen's club. Page 2 uDickU also sang in the male quartet. Ruth Patton'represen+ ted the class as princess for the 1939 carnival. Class off ficers for the first semester of this, their second year in high school were, president, Max Noll, vice-president, Ivan Gillam, secretary, Norma Tucker, treasurer, Ruth Patton, class representative, 'Richard 'Williams, sergeant-at-arms, Frank Wiser. Second semester changes in the executive de- partment were, Ivan Gillam, president, Dorothy Fredrickmun vice-president, and Lorraine Miller, secretary. Mr. Durham was again their advisor. Twenty-seven students took'dw opportunity of 'beginning their junior year of high school. Ruth Patton, president, Lorraine Miller, vice-president, Dorothy Fredrickson, sec- retary, Richard Williams, treasurer, Eldon Parker,class rep- resentative, and Don Behrman, sergeant-at-arms, held the leadership of the class through the first semester of their junior year, as did Frank Wiser,president, Glenn Kuykendall, vice-president, Ivan Gillam, secretary, Max Noll, class rep- resentative, and Ruth Patton and Dorothy Fredrickson, ser- geant-at-arms, for the second semester. William Munger ac- ted as advisor for the year. This very active class accomplished many undertakings throughout the year. A letter earned in basketball gained Wayne Mosher entrance to the n0rder of the Orangeu. In all extra curricular activities, the class managed to contribute in some way. To the Quill and Scroll, Richard Williams and James Parker, in the typing contest, Ruth Patton and Dorothy Fredrickson were entered as second year participantsgto the Y's Girls, Lorraine Miller'and Norma Tucker were admitted, and in the music department, Richard Williams again won the distinction of quartet member. Many other members of the junior class were also members of the Glee Club. Several boys received letters in the spring for their participation in baseball. A first rate junior-senior banquet, finished the 1940-41 year in proud style for the class of '42. Senior year for the class of '42 saw it's Y's Girls en- rollment mount to five, as Dorothy Fredrickscn, Carmella De- Paola, and Rosemary Jones were elected into the club. Fol- lowing badketball season, all senior boys had been admitted into the Lettermen's club. For their last year together in a body, officers were president, Lorraine Miller, vice-president,Carmella DePaola, secretary, Dorothy Fredrickson, treasurer, Ruth Patton, an class representative, Jim Parker.
