Target Success was chosen as the book’s theme because we feel everyone has the goal to be successful. Our year started out on a rough note. The mileage failed twice. It then passed about three weeks before school started. This started us on our way to success. The Space Shuttle Discovery went up successfully in September, thirty-two months after the Challenger disaster. It showed that nothing would stop our space program. Success prevails again. COCKTAIL was a smash movie in ‘88, starring Tom Cruise. Freddie made his fourth debut in NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET. That zany rabbit, known as Roger Rabbit, had a great ap- pearance along with his wife Jessica, and Eddie in WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT. The colors black and navy blue were hot in clothing along with another fa- vorite, leather. The group Guns and Roses hit it big with “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child of Mine”. The sound track from Cocktail was a success with songs like “Don’t Worry Be Happy”, “Hippy Hippy Shake”, and “Kokomo”. We had a real heat wave in the sum- mer with almost 90 and 100 degree weather. We also had very little rainfall. The drought took a toll on everyone. We feel that this will be a year of success for all and we hope that your “Target is Success!” Good Luck. This year’s Spirit Week turned out to be a great success. There was a lot of participation, and it got a lot of laughs. The days of Spirit Week in- cluded grub day, opposite sex day, autograph day, dress-up day, and tra- ditional blue and white day. The homecoming game, was in a sense, a big let-down. With just one minute remaining in the game. New Haven scored a touchdown which gave them a two point victory over Yale. It was also a letdown when the Senior and the Student Council floats fell apart. Despite these loses, the beautiful Homecoming Court, consisting of Freshmen, Jeff Mason and Theresa Kelly; Sophomores, Steve Pratt and Beth Knight; Juniors, Matt Brown, Jessie Maxwell, Guy Fisher and Valerie Cowper; Seniors, John Wilt and Stacey McIntyre, Bob Augustyniak and Veronica Drotar, Bill Bevins and Tandy Budzyski; salvaged the spirit of the game. 3
