Lights! Camera! Action! Welcome to the 1987-88 Yale High School Yearbook. The theme for this year ' s yearbook is On Location. We felt this theme was appropriate because of the many changes of fashion, movies, T.V. shows, and current events. This year ' s fashion took a massive turn— acid-washed denims were all the rage; Spuds MacKenzie made his mark; Reebok ' s were still steppin ' in style, and guess what ' s next! Pee Wee ' s Playhouse was the kid ' s favorite Saturday morning show. Madonna was still busting out on the charts, while groups like Whitesnake, The Fat Boys, and L.L. Cool J were making their mark. Comebacks were made by U2, Boston, and Starship. Dynasty and Dallas are on their way out in T.V. shows, but Bill Cosby and his family are still in the top ten while LA Law is really working its way up the list. The theaters were hot this summer with Eddie Murphy ' s Beverly Hills Cop II , Arnold Schwarzanagger was in the ratings with Predator , and La Bamba was ringing in the cash. Dirty Dancing , Stakeout , and Dream Warriors were also making it big. There were many current events this year. For many days people couldn ' t watch their favorite soap operas because the Iran Contra hearings were being televised. Oliver Ollie North became everyone ' s hero. Detroit airport became well known because of the Flight 225 Northwest Airlines crash. It was the second worst crash in the world. The Catholics around the world were honored with Pope John Paul II and his World tour. But let ' s not forget Robert Bork being up for nomination for U.S. Supreme Court Justice — will the Senate approve him or not? The one thing I ' d really like to say to my class, the class of 88 , is we came in winning and went out winning in taking Spirit Week by storm. Remember the winning float?! As I close this letter, I want to thank the whole yearbook staff — it wouldn ' t have been the best yearbook yet without them.
