Dedicated to the One We Love The 1983 Yearbook staff is honored to dedicate this yearbook to retiring Assistant Principal, Theodore M. Stine, Jr. Mr. Stine has filled many positions in the Yale School District during his 36-year long career. He has taught in a one-room school house and in our larger and more modern Jr. High and High School. He has been principal, a teacher, and his current position, assistant Principal. Even though Mr. Stine is a person of authority, he is very well liked among the students. He has a genuine caring and respect for the students and most of all, is willing to listen. He enjoys talking with the students; he feels that every person good or bad, right or wrong has something to say for you to learn from, and that life is a constant learning process. His philosphy is You must be ten times Quicker to praise than to criticize.” We will really miss Mr. Stine in the years to come, but we wish him the best of luck in his future. The club has gone 3 times previously since Miss Sworthwood has been the advisor. The club usu- ally goes every 4 years. But because of the poor economy in Mexico and the rising costs of travel, we won’t be going this year. Instead we are going to use some of our money for a party or for a trip to a nearby Mexican restaurant. The Spanish Club usually meets about once a month after school. This year, to raise money, we sold Love-A-Grams and M M’s. We also had a car wash before the prom; a dance; a slave sale and a bake sale. Previously for fun the Spanish classes have learned The Mexican Hat Dance, and how to make Pinatas. to vale high school group PERE2 PEREZ --auccum Back row, John Munro, Chris Y urko, Steve Frenette, Lisa Collins, Ron Chamey , Barb Brown, Judy Quain, Jenette Shapp, Peggy Thomas, Theresa Schultz, third row, Bill Kean, Diane Gibson, Cindy Charney, Lynn Porrett, Roseanne Grace, Dan Ellis, Joyce Hayward, Linda Anderson, Scott Jones, John Klocke, second row, Louise Chojnowski, Brenda Hill, Lisa Kean, Michele Capanda, Tammy Jones, Donna LaGosh, Debbie Barenbrugge, Myrna Amaya, Michelle DeMar, Lori Gall, first row, Missy Beschoner, Teri Begerowski, Miss Sworthwood, John Yurko, Sherri Beschoner, Lynn Vandenbosche, Anita Venohr, Jeff Palmateer, Doug Nowicki. Frajytenmuih CHiflK aS An Active Group The F.H.A. members are a busy group with big plans. One of their projects last year was the repaint- ing of the school restrooms — a very needed thing. This year they plan to refurbish the school court and something more unique, they plan to adopt grandparents (the area’s elderly). The one point of the F.H.A. wishes to stress is the importance of the home. To make more people aware, they are starting a series of articles in the Yale Expositor deal- ing with family relationship- parents teenagers. With officers president, Tina Mathews; Vice-president, Anna Whitson; Secretary, Cindy Balia; treasurer, Sherie Demary, and membership, they compete with other F.H.A. members from all over Michigan in marketing demonstra- tions, parlimentary procedures, and their demonstrations representing marriage and divorce. B I N D I N G R E L A T I O N S 76 This year at Yale High, we have more exchange students than ever. Five students from all over the world. We all have something in common: We left our friends, and family for something completely new, and we all happened to end up here in Yale. I think I can say for sure that we all have had a good experience of our stay here. Maybe one of you would like to become an exchange student? Please contact one of us; we would be happy to answer any question. Now, we would like to thank you all here at the High school for being part of making this year a wonderful memory. G’day, I’m Kate from Australia. First of all I’d really love to thank everyone for making this year so enjoyable. It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life, and it has a lot to do with the wonderful people I met here, (and seeing proper snow!) I have travelled to many states while I’ve been here, and I have seen a fair bit of this wonder- ful country. Hopefully, one day soon I can come back to see you all again, but until then I have my yearbook and ’83 memories. Kate Brown Darebin” Kallista- Emerald Road The Patch, Victoria 3792 Australia Hei! My name is Monica. I am a sixteen year old girl from Norway. During my stay here, I have been staying with the Robinson family. When I am in Norway, I live in a town 25 miles from Oslo, which is the Norwegian capital. in my spare time, 1 enjoy horseback riding, playing the guitar, and playing European handball. I am a senior here in Yale, and I like it a lot. It is really a great experience to be an exchange student. I have learned so many new things here that I did not know about Ameri- cans. I want to thank all of you here at Yale High, for making this year the most memorable in my life. I sure will miss you a lot. Love from Monica Lund Linjeveien 5 2000 Lillestrom Norway Hola! I am Cristina Montse Ramon from Equador. I have had a really good time here and I think that Americans are very friendly. I have been living with the Frenette-family. I love my family and I enjoy it a lot living with them. I have also been traveling quite a bit. For example, I went with the YFU organization to Washington, New York and Florida. I also went on trips with the Science club in their famous bus! Some time in the future I would like to come back and visit everyone again. I would like to thank everyone at school, especially Mr. Robinson who is the craziest teacher I ever had! Cristina Ramon Casilla 602 Quito-Equador South America Hejsan! I am Louise (Weezy) from Sweden. I left Avesta, a town with about 26,000 inhabitants and came to Ruby with a couple of hundred. In spite of the big change to a new, American life, I can, without hesitation, say that this year has been the most exciting, educational and fun year I ever had. I am now a member of the McPhail Stine family and together with them I have lived an American life in a way I couldn’t have done if I came here as a tourist. I have also gone through a whole senior year at this school, an experience I always will remember. I am bringing a lot of wonderful memories back home and I would like to thank everyone for that! I am staying with the Roy-family in Yale. I am really glad I got the chance to come over here and to see what it is like to live here, which gave me a totally different point of view of the American people. I got to see quite a bit of Michigan, and I also went to Colorado over Christmas. After I come back to Ger- many, I will have another two years of school to go and then 16 months of Civil Service or Army. After that I will prob- ably study something somewhere. This year’s league format will be single games, with each team playing at home once unlike last year when all games were doubleheaders. Their tri -captains were sophomores; Pat Hayes, Clark Edgerton, and Tim Meharg. The Bulldogs had some very outstanding players to work with as the opposing team soon found out. Among the leaders were Steve Bond as quarterback; out- standing pass receiver, Clark Edgerton; defensive standouts were Paul Klocke, Jeff Ferrier, Clark Edgerton and Greg Har- rington; outstanding defensive linebackers were Pat Klause and Tim Meharg who was the leading rusher with over 600 yards. The games have been exciting, crowd pleasing, and fast-breaking. The team has a strong rebounding record and many good shooters. The cagers broke records in assists, charges taken, and steals. The only problem was they forgot to tell Dr. Harrington; Oh well, we can’t all be perfect. The season was spotted with just a couple of injuries. Dori Trupp decided she wanted the rebound more than the Dryden girl and put herself on crutches for 6 weeks, or when Karen Meharg was plowed over by a Marysville girl during the last minute of the last game, and tore ligaments in her knee.
