Mr. John Mitchell— Band Director Did you ever see anyone who was always so cheer- ful? The Directors Led Mr. Richard Wiersma, Jr.-Bookkeeping and Short- hand and Adult Education. Someone just interrupted his class. Wonder if he means us? The director, the teacher, the gadfly, the guide. The director is the person on whom the success or failure of the play depends. He is responsible for the unification of all production elements-the learning process, both subject matter and social ac- tivities. He must be an able guide with the right questions and the right answers. He must care about people for a good play presents a problem and lets the audience watch the solution and then teaches him to judge the outcome. It takes patience and love to let someone work out his own problem. Mrs. Helen Decker— Librarian Mrs. Decker shows Terry how to check out books. 26

Provides a Fine Program MR. JAMES MARTIN-High School Principal busy look- ing over some work at his desk. Mr. Martin is a good friend to all-he always has a friendly smile and a wave for us as he walks through the hallways. He is the kind of man who is fair in punishment when it is needed and easy to talk to when we have a problem. He attends most of our school functions, not out of duty, but because he likes us. And we want to thank him for being “our kind of people” (that should, however, be said with a southern accent). Mrs. Rose Edgerton is Mr. Martin’s secretary and in charge of the student secretaries. MR. JOHN WARK-High School Counselor. Here is the man who helps with our schedules, our problems, sees to it that we get the necessary scholarships, the right applica- tion to the right school so that we may continue becom- ing. An if you ever want to see a man about a good joke to tell, now that Stu Cole is gone, see Mr. Wark! Mrs. Betty Halsey is Mr. Wark’s secretary (lucky man!) Did you ever see her frown? Betty always has a smile for every- one-even when she tells you Mr. Wark is busy.
