U However, a s chool could have none of these memories if it did not have students to give it life, to fill it with sights and sotmds, to be r esponsible for the cherished fragments that live in the mind forever. It is to this end, then, that the 1963 YADKINIAN is dedicated: to serve as a reminder of the students and the life of Yadkinville High. The publication of a yearbook is dependent on a sponsoring group. The Senior Class is givenpriority, and, if it agrees to sponsor the l book, a staff is selected from its members. The school ye arbook is a product of a staff of twelve students selected from the sponsoring class or club, and working to recall T in words and pictures the happenings of the school year. It involves work, worry, and satisfaction in a job well done. WW nw ,,,y V The first staff m e e t i n g acquaints the new staff T members with the ir duties and gives them an idea of what is expected of them during the year. i W l Ei v Students who are interested in a staff position submit a written application, stating their qualifi- cations and reasons for desiring aspecific job. Before the selections are made, applications are carefully studied and each applicant is discussed by the Senior Class officers, senior sponsors, and the principal. 2 1 ml .wth I x Actual w o r k now begins. The circulation manager accepts deposits from students who wish to buy yearbooks. Pictures are a vital part of the yearbook. Many rolls of film are required to fill the layout spa ces with permanent records of all aspects of school life. 6' WA After months of dreaming, planning, writing, a nd working, the staff completes the p r e l i m i n a r y work, including athorough check of all copy and pictures. The materials are sent to the publishers who return a proof to be checked by the staff. Completed at last, the book is ready to be read and enjoyed. Q. Funds to pay the expenses of the ye arbook are raised by the sale of the yearbooks and the sale of advertising space to merchants and businessmen in the surrounding area. There is no re cord of the time spent by the players, coaches, parents, and patrons, th e re is no record of the values derived by the participants, there is no record of the pleasure and pride of the spectators as theywatched the development of the players. Nevertheless, the Hornets were hurt by key injuries to players a nd by an exceptionally light line. Ronnie Brown and Gray Reavis led the team on offensive play, Gray having been high scorerj Roger Chipman, Lawrence and Keith Warden, and Donald and Rex Todd led the defensive play. Although the five seniors will be missed, prospects look good for next year.
