This organiza- tion is divided into three groups with Sue Jordan, Marshall Clark, and Beatrice Peterson as group leaders. The activities of the Student Council consisted of ar- ranging a special cheering section for the students at the games to promote better sportsmanship, setting up of the school calendar and planning asemblies, duties of the Hang-Out, and Junior Red Cross Drive. Also the group wrote a letter to the Gazette trying to get better cooperation from the adult sport fans. Dick Shaw and Macon Williams represented the group at the annual Student Council Clinic held at Troy High School, February 28. Mr. Benner is the adviser to the organization., Six QENIQRS HX N X Xl in M 0 2000 A ij E II f X N fa fi ' X 0 fi Z W' f , I f 4 F 1 1 N if-g f -f in is f 0 ' 'LM N'w1H'm 4 'IQ LJ . AN APPRECIATION This section of the 1950 Cen-Sen is dedicated to Miss Faye Cavanaugh. She has been a friend and wise counselor to a host of students and faculty members. We like her subtle humor. We appreciate her personal interest in us as individuals. We respect her for all that she has meant to us and to students who have gone before us. To a sympathetic, understanding, and energetic- faculty member-the Class of 1950 is happy to pay this tribute of respect. MARY CAROL -CRESWELL July 10, 1932 Majors: English, Mathematics. We appreciate her love of good literature and the high ideals she has held before us. May she have continued success in her new field of service. One of Miss Balantyne's main interests at Central has been the Library League present members of which are pictured below. Members of the Library League are responsible for keeping the library in order and assisting students during the eight periods of the school day. They keep the library as neat as possible, record fines, and check the books in and out. Each member receives one- fourth credit for a year's service in the library, Rar- bara Austin is the student in charge and Miss Ballan- tyne is the faculty adviser. The concert band and concert orchestra participated in the winter and spring concerts, and the orchestra also played at the class plays and at Baccalaureate and Commencement. The senior choir, composed of sophomores, juniors, and seniors sang at the winter and spring concerts. Sev- -eral soloists and ensembles went to the district contest at Springfield. SPORTS DEDICATION We, the class of 1950, in appreciation for his many years of service, dedicate the sports section of this annual to George Haller. George has at one time or another acted as a com- panion, counselor, or trainer to almost every boy who has participated in some athletic activity for Central. The years have had little effect on his untiring devo- tion to his boys. Imbued with the spirit of service he might well be an inspiration to all of us as we, too, aproach the threshold of what we trust will be a long and useful life. If the years have taken their toll from George in more strenuous activity, they have neither marred nor dimmed his enthusiasm and his record for never missing a home game and few of those played out of the city. So, George, as We, the class of 1950, regretfully leave you, may you continue as the inspiration in the lives of the numberless boys who will soon be taking our places. The Bucs did it again. For the second consecutive year, the Xenia Lentral Buccaneers, under the guidance of Coach Bill Kaylor, have been named undisputed Miami Valley League Champions. In addition to this, the Bucs were runners-up in the district finals. The Bucs, well known for their scrap, boasted a 14-5 seasonal record and were considered one of the better ball clubs of the state. To climax their basketball career at Central, all seven of the Senior Bucs acted as captain at the last home game and thoroughly trounced powerful Springfield Public who later went on to become State Champs. Three of the players, Eakins, Swartzbaugh, and Guyton made the all team. Also Eakins and Guyton were given honorable mention on the All-Ohio team. Letters presented on the quarterly and service basis were presented to seven seniors, one junior, and one sophomore. One manager received a letter.
