Treasurer of Xavier University. suffered a heart attack as he watched the last overtime minutes of the Xavier-Dayton game in the NIT finals. He died several hours later at Good Samaritan Hospital. Father Buckman. 54. was a native of Uniontown. Kentucky. and had taught here at St. Xavier High School from 1931-3-1-. In addition to his duties as treasurer. Father Buckman also served as chaplain for t.he football and basketball teams last year. A Requiem Low Blass was offered for him VVednesday. llarch Q6. in Bellarmine Chapel followed by burial in Nlilford Novitiate C emetery. Death also claimed two members of the President's Council. Bilr. VValter S. Schmidt, prominent Cincinnati realtor. and lVIr. Walter F. Verkamp, Chairman of the Board of the Verkamp Corporation. Besides their interest in Xavier, both men were active in numerous civic and religious organiza- tions. Page ll

Leo J. Voll- niayer. SJ., who celebrated the fiftieth anniversaries of their entrance into the Society of Jesus during the past year. Father Poetker has been at nieniber of the Xavier faculty since 1950. He also taught for some time at llarquette. Father Vollinayer has served on Xavier's faculty as professor of physics since 1942. A native of Toledo. he formerly taught at John Carroll and St. Louis lfniyersity. Page 10
