KN EA XAVERIA HIGH SCHOOL BROOKLYN 0 NEW YORK The four stages here depicted were but a part of the construc- tion that went on even after the opening of school. Building what was to be one of the most modern schools in Brooklyn was no mean feat and evidences of it-such as the unfinished library and gym-can well be remembered by the Class of ,61. And in a way, the growth, development and completion of the school building is significant of a change that has taken place and that will continue to do so amongst Xaverian's students. Just as the school has gone through many changes, so have its studentsg and the CLIPPER, fully outfitted for the long voyage to come, has been successfully launched. ' WNW' - .1 1 . Completed in 1957, Xaverian has facilities for about, forty brothers and for over fourteen hundred students. Simplicity, beauty and practicality exemplify the architectural design of this modern building. Since its beginning four years ago it has been undergoing a gradual evolution. The foresighted planning of the fac- ulty has brought the building to its present state of efficiency. Sovereign Part ln Making Me . . . B 4jW2w: : S .. SE IORS JAMES WARREN President Had a poll been conducted for the busiest senior, those who knew him would have chosen James Warren, President of the Student Body. His widely known success in track since his freshman year is the result of devoted practice. His four year scholastic effort at Xaverian has been complemented by being an active member of the Sodality. His election as president was the student's acknowledgment of Jim's four years of conscientious work in behalf of the school. JOHN MONAHAN Vice-President John Monahan is probably best known for his athletic accomplishments at Xaverian. Throughout his four years here. he has excelled as a member of both the J.V. and Varsity Basketball, as well as Baseball teams. But even though his athletic record is well-known, John cannot be forgotten for his work as an officer of SAC. He has served as Vice-President during his freshman and senior years. The excellence of John's high school years has definitely earned for him a splendid beginning for his college career. SENIOR OFFICERS I96O-I96I MICHAEL O'NEILL Secretary Rarely does one find a person who is such an asset to a school. Mike has given Xaverian both his scholastic and athletic ability. A member of SAC and the baseball team for four years, he served as Secretary of SAC in his senior year as well as fulfilling the manifold duties of Intramurals Commissioner. As a result of his scholastic ability and continued hard work he was awarded a New York State Regents Scholarship. Mike has given his services to Xaverian for the past four years, and both sides have greatly benefited from his leadership. PHILIP CUCURA Treasurer One of the busiest students in Xaverian is the Treasurer of the Student Activities Council, Philip Curcura. Phil, Rwittiest and most popular man in the Class of '61, captained the Varsity Bowling Team as a junior, managed the baseball team for two years and served as a class officer for four years. As Chairman of the Raffle Drive and a big member of the Dance Committee, he has kept SAC's financial records straight. His wit and pleasant personality have made for him many friends at Xaverian and will continue to do so in the future. xsxixga xx J Q . ts X X this Qsemsf k N X xx f X csv A i wks X is ' psiasfsa.
