The Wyoming Valley West National Honor Society conducted its ceremony on May 9, 1979. New members from the junior and senior classes were inducted. They received certificates and medals from Mr. Ferris. This year's officers were as follows: president: Tom Lallyg vice president: Jean Pasternackig treasurer: Karen Pyrosg and secretary: Chris Chernesky. TUDENT COUNCIL Advisors: Mary Jean Tarantini, Frank Morgis The 1978-79 school year was a productive one for tl Wyoming Valley West Student Council. Headed by preside: Scott Jeffery, the Student Council Officers were Marlei Brush, first vice-presidentg Pam Fimowicz, second vic presidentg Ken Coombs, third vice-presidentg Suzanne Kair' treasurerg Andrea Tirpak, corresponding secretaryg Becl- Bendick, recording secretaryg and Michael Gilby, parliamei tarian. The year consisted of many successful projects and under takings. As a service to the teachers, while in the Kingstc Building, Student Council ran a coffee canteen. In late Oi tober, they sponsored a Halloween Movie Night which Collet ted S100 for UNICEF. Lori Smith represented WVW regionally in the Northeastern Pennsylavnia Association 1 Student Councils. Capsules containing school related materi were buried outside the new high school by advisors and o ficers. Homecoming is one of the busiest times ofthe year for Sti dent Council. Flower for a Friend and 'fBalloon Launch tickets were sold, chaired by Sue Kairo and John Finn respe tively. Andrea Tirpak set up the elections for Mr. and M Sparta and was the master of ceremonies at the crowning c November l0.
