Row 2: Terry Herring, Brian O'Neil, Marlene Kaminski, Ken Mattern, Jack Shoenholtz, Jeff Burk, Randy Price. Mackay, had another fine season. After having the largest turnout in Valley West history, 27, the Putters went on to post a 7-5 record. League competition was 'fierce this year, but the team never gave up in their pursuit of another win- ning season. The squad was led by seniors Tom Michalek, Mark Perugino, Scott Jeffrey, and Mike Corey. The golf team was very well represented in dis- tricts. Tom Michalek finished in 6th place out of66 competitors. Tom was also named to the West All- Star Team, the Sunday Independent All-Star Team, and the All Scholastic Team. Other team members competing in the District 2 tournament were Tricia Crossin, Terri Herring, and Marlene Kaminski. ' The extra large turnout this year should enhance West's chances for '79. INF' Coach Marge Kelly The girl's field hockey team, under the direction of Coach Marge Kelly, and assisted by rookie coach Kathy Lenkowski, finished their season with a discouraging 2-7 record. Despite this disappointment, the team is looking forward to a successful upcoming season. The varsity players topposite pagej consisted of: Row l: Connie Nappi, Janine Leubs, Mary McEvoy, Peggy Howells, Lori Jimmie, Bonnie Marks. Row 2: Kathy Flynn, Kathy Russatt, Leah Stratton, Bonnie Hugiek, Tina Nevolas, Cathy Castor, and Robin Jimmie, manager. The team played with a renewed enthusiasm and consequently l9 girls received letters. This group was composed of 9 seniors, 3 juniors, and 7 sophomores. The team practiced a lot harder this year and played much better than the records show. stated Coach Kelly.
