Participants in debate at Wyoming Park this year were Lila Bleam and Shirley Woodrick. who took the school as far as the regional finals, They were coached by Mrs. William Luyendyk. By their fine presentation of affirmative arguments on the question: RESOLVED THAT THE LEGAL VOTING AGE SHOULD BE REDUCED TO EIGHTEEN YEARS, in their first debate of the sea- son they defeated two out of two of their opponents in the contest at Hudsonville. They proved to be equally able in presenting the negative side when they defeated Belding in the con- test at Belding, thus winning the district plaque. On Fehruary 13. Wyoming Park entertained the four other schools entering the regional tournament. Our team was defeated in a close contest with Grand Rapids Union. Grand Rapids Union won the tourna- ment. Thomas. all In spite of the loss ot' many of its members through graduation the hand has come out on top with good spirit, Under Mr. Thorne's capahle leadership, Vlfyoming High School Band has proven itself a distinctive and active organization hoth on the marching field and on the concert stage. The hand has made .1 number of public appear- ances. Among these were the marching formations between the halves at foothall games, the assembly concerts and the Christmas Carol sing. which promises to hecome an annual ex ent. Cther highlights of the seasons activities were the Spring Concert, and the Mass Band Concert lApril 271 in which we participated with four other schools, A few of the outstanding selections played were classical pieces: Heroic Overture . Tales from the Vienna XVoods and Ballet Egyptianug Marches: On the Mall , Pan American and Colossus of Columbia . and .1 comedy Three Blind Mice .

Social activities included several parties and .1 picnic. At Christmas time the girls presented a skit to .1 very grateful audience of crippled children at the Blodgett Home. At the Community RoundsUp the cluh assisted the Senior Girl Reserves in sponsoring the Style Show. Five of this year's juniors had the honor of hecom- ing Ring Girls.
