This year's Girls' Glee Club was comprised of two sections: the Junior-Senior and the Freshman-Sopho- more Choruses. At Christmas time these groups presented a beau- . , tiful Cantata, The Wondrous Story, as a part of the Christmas assembly. I 6 The choruses also sang in the Good Friday as- Q u sembly, and in the Easter Sunrise Service of the Wyoming Park U. B. church. Two groups of selections were given by the Club at our annual Spring Festival. The girls trio, chosen from the choruses, sang in assemblies, in P.T.A. meetings and in churches. Their outstanding service was the singing of Oh Holy Night at the city-wide carol sing held in the Civic Auditorium, Trio members were Connie Hart' man, Marcia Steketee and Lois Van Malsen. At the change of semesters Connie Hartman was replaced by Marjorie Angus. Q

Van Prooyen, E. Kist. ixecf Chorus Music is the inarticulate speech of the heart, which cannot be compressed into words, because it is intinitef' -- Xvagner. The Mixed Chorus under the direction of Miss Runk was our largest choral group this year. The choral activities were numerous. At Christmas time the chorus took part in the come munity carol sing. During Holy Wleelc, the chorus sang in the annual student assembly. Later, they otfered two groups ot' selections at the Spring Festi- val. The lNlassed Choral Festixal held at the Civic Auditorium, also found the group participating. The years .activities ended with the presentation of two exchange assemblies. The chorus this year was proud to be outhtted in new blue and white choral robes purchased by the P. T. A. This group hopes that the .appreciation ot good music has been furthered by their efforts. 27

The Boys' Glee Club this year was composed of approximately twenty-two members. This group showed remarkably well-blended voices and abounding enthusiasm for the songs they learned. The boys sang for a Student assembly on March Zo. at which time Stouthearted Men, All Through the Night and El Rancho Grande were the numbers used. The latter number was especially enjoyed by the student body. The Boys' Glee Club was featured on the exchange assembly program held at Rockford and Grandville High schools. On this program and at our own Spring Festival held May 10th they presented several K I novelty numbers, Marching Along Together and El Rancho Grande with special effects worked out I A by Tom Drenten. Q ee u From the Boys' Glee Club was selected a trio com- posed ot Tom Drenten. Howard Slootmaker and Dale Vander XY all. The trio was active in assembly ap- pearances and presented a comedy number called Down by the Old Mill Stream at the exchange as- sembly program and at our Spring Festival program. The trio sang also several sacred numbers at the First United Brethren Church on Burton Heights and at our own Good Friday assembly. The Boys' Quintet, composed of Dale Vander Xwall. Tom Drenten. Howard Slootmaker, Gerald Formsma, and Ed W'ynsma, was organized late in the year but was able to prepare some lively Spirituals for use in our Spring Festival program. They also sang at sev- eral services at the United Brethren Church at Bur' ton Heights.
