It is divided into two sections-the Freshman-Sophomore Chorus and the junior-Senior Chorus. Ensembles and soloists from this group participated in many assembly programs at school as well as in various churches in the community. Students taking part in this phase included Constance Hartman, Marcia Steketee, jane Demoray, Dorothy Demoray, and Beatrice Drenten. During these trying times it is exceedingly important that music becomes a Part of every one's life. It has been said that in the life of any artist the achievements of yesterday always must fade before the opportunities of today. Therefore an artist strives continually to improve his work. That is what our choral groups aim to do, but not without pleasure, for they make it their business to enjoy everything they do. ii 53 Il

Like the Mendelssohn Club. the mixed chorus is a selected group, composed of approximately thirty-five who have an oppor- tunity to display their musical ability. This organization rehearses only a little more than one hour per month-yet they have ac- complished a great deal in a short time because of the outstanding , , , ability of its members. The Mixed Chorus sang for the Kent County Luncheon, for the Easter Sunrise Service at the United Brethren Church. for an- other service at the Beverly Reformed Church, and for the Spring Festival. An outstanding ensemble, featuring john Peppler. Russell Dood, Bill Chandler. Gordon Beld, Dale Vander XVall, Constance Hartman, Marcia Steketee, jane Demoray. and Beatrice Drenten sang at several public appearances. The song which will be ITIOSI readily associated with this ensemble is Going Home by Dvorak. U51
