,ntl I footnall umman On September 21 - Wyoming Redskins opened their football campaign with a win over Wilkes- Barre Township at Wyoming Memorial Stadium. It was a hard fought battle, but Wyoming was the victor 19-6. On September 28 - Jenkins came over to meet the Wyoming 11. It was a hard fought game, but Jenkins couldn't penetrate the Wyoming defense to win. The final score was Wyoming 27 - Jenkins 25. On October 5 - Wyoming had their first taste of defeat by losing a close game to Edwards- ville by a score of 12-6. On October 12 - Wyoming was out for revenge against the League Leading West Pittston Rams. After losing to the Rams the past few seasons Wyoming was in high spirits. The game was well played with half time score 6-0 in favor of the Rams. In the second half the Rams were just too much for the Wyoming eleven and came through with a 33-0 victory. After losing two games the Redskins came back with a smashing win over their non-conference rivals, Pittston, with a score of 39-26. On October 25 - Wyoming went to Forty-Fort to play one of the best games Wyoming played this season. Wyoming was a two touchdown underdog, but came through with a high scoring victory of 38-20. On November 9 - Wyoming traveled to Exeter and tasted their third and last defeat of the season by bowing to Exeter 12-7. On November 16 - the back mountain boys of Westmorland came to the Wyoming Stadium to try for their second victory in a row over the Redskins. It was a close game right to the end, but Podwika's Cinderella Boys came through with a 6 pointer to win the game 6-2. On November 28 - the Annual Wyoming-West Wyoming Turkey Day Classic got underway. West Wyoming put up a tough battle, but they were no match for Wyoming's strong offense and defense. Coach Podwika's boys came through with a smashing victory, 20-0. Wyoming Redskins ended their football season with a 6-3 record which took third place in the West Side Conference. We the members of the football team would like to thank Mr. Podwika, our coach, and Mr. Zinkavich, our assitant coach, for a job well done.
