It is not to beused as abasis of judgement for either our merits or our shortcomings. We leave it as a monument of our graduation. DEDICATIO Mr. Jack Mills Miss Doris Glahn Throughout our four years in high school you have been both fine teachers and friends and have shown not only knowledge but also sympathy, understanding, and guidance. Therefore, we wish to express our appreciation and thanks by dedicating the 1955 Monument to you. WWW wyoming High School can be pictured as aneducational plantengagedin the production of graduates. This is a process which begins in the formative years of the student's life. During the first eight years of formal education, the student's character, which can be depicted as the raw material, is molded and shaped. In the last four years, the product is polished and made ready for the outside world. Unlike ordinary manufacturing processes, this one does not end abruptly upon graduation, but continues throughout the remaining years of life. In this book we have not attempted to portray the complete picture, but merely to provide glimpses of the final stages of this educational process. 3 TABLE or CONTENTS Administration - '7 Faculty - 9 Class Officers and Advisors - 12 Q i Individuals - 15 '- 1 Q Class Poem - 25 N Class Song, Motto, Flower, Colors - 26 X Yearbook Staff - 27 N Popularity Poll - 32 Class Prophecy - 33 X Class Will - 36 Class History - 38 i N N TNR x ia Extracurricular - 40 I- LAWFU Junior Class - 48 Sophomore Class - 50 ' Junior High School - 52 of f'l'fb , Activities - 54 'f 'l e', I J Anniouos - so nfhlept, kj D Farewell - '73 ks! i a 5 While seated at our desk we dream of days gone by, We dream of our . . . 5 I T77 6 wld A A Q r XXZW W X A BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Edgar Sanders, Treasurer: Mr.John Marfisi,PresidentgMr. Andrew Kufta. One day when I was feeling reminiscent, I decided to call one of my old school friends, Lois Lowe, to find out what the other members of my graduating class had done during the past 20 years. The tele- phone conversation went something like this: LULU-Operator, may I have Wyoming-1955? Thank you . . .... Hel-10. LOGY? This is Lulu- LOIS-Qi, hello Lulu. How are you? LULU -Just fine. LOIS-'I'hat's good. LULU-Loey, I was just sitting here thinking of our high school days and the ambitions of our friends. LOIS-I've often wondered about the same thing. LULU-I know what quite a few of our friends are doing but what about the rest. Do you know what Joe Kopec and Donald Andrews are doing? LOIS -Joe Kopec is on me staff at the Medical Center in New Jersey. LULU-How nioe. LOIS-And Donald Andrews is chief mechanic for the Cadillac Company. LULU-Barbara Bushkar is a Secretary in the United Nations. LOIS-Did you know Clido Cataluffi is supervisor of the Mechanical Division of General Motors? LULU-Ch, how nice. I think Paul Cavanaugh is chief accountant for the Miner's National Bank. LOIS-I heard Sherrin Morris is a secretary for B. F. Goodrich Rubber Company. By the way, Lulu, what have you been doing all these years? LULU-Oh mel I'm Chief Physiotherapist at the Mayo Clinic. Did you go through with that crazy dream of yours to become an old bone cracker? LOIS-Natchl Am Ihaving a ball for myself, and Pm in partnership with the handsomest hunk of man LULU-What happened to your old flame Tommy Reed? He isn't in partnership with you, is he? LOIS-No, about 10 years ago he said he wou1dn't have an Osteopath in the house. He's doing a great business in the drugstore line. LULU-You know, I met Marie Policare in town the other day. She told me she was starring in a new play on Broadway. LOIS-You remember Sylvia Rapp don't you? Well, she is now head nurse at the Nesbitt Hospital. LULU-And her friend Bertha Trewern is Superintendent of Nurses at the Veterans Hospital. LOIS-By the way, l wonder if Patrica Wyberski is still secretary for Warner Brothers? LULU-The last I heard, she and Maryann Cuba were both secretaries in California. Have you heard from Ro Pagliarini lately? LOIS-Yes, I got a letter about a week ago, she said she was now Chief X-ray Technician at the General Hospital. She also said the Glo Korecki spent last week-end with her. Did you know Glo has a wonderful job designing dresses for the Boston Store Fashion Department. LULU-Gi, I'm glad to hear that they're making out so well, we were such good friends, what has Arlene Smallacomb been doing since we left school? LOIS-You remember how pretty she always fixed her hair don't you? well she decided to help others find the most becoming way to fix their hair too. She's now one of the World's finest hair stylists. Say, have you heard anything from Bobby Salus lately? LULU-Golly sure, he's an engineer for General Electric. He and his family were over to visit me just yesterday. Do you know what ever became of Frannie McGinley? LOIS- Well. the last l heard, he was a traveling salesman for the Fuller Brush Company. How about his buddy, Frank Merenda? LULU-Oh, Frankie is the head of the body designing department for General Motors. Boy, is his wife ludty -- she has a different colored car for every outfit. LOIS-Boy, l'1l say. Did you know that Ralph Klukosky is now Mayor of New York City? LULU-No, I didn't know. He was always so quiet in school. Tell me, did Carol Givler, ever become an exotic dancer like she wanted to be? 33 LOIS-No, the last I heard, she was modeling for the Powers Agency. How about her friend Nadien Naples? LULU-Rosalie said in her letter that Nadine has received her RN from the Pittston Hospital. What about the other kids that wanted to be nurses? LOIS-Well, Mary Szczechowicz is Superintendent of Nurses at the Shriners Hospital. LULU-Do you remember Faye Thomas? LOIS-Sure wasn't she captain of the cheerleaders? LULU-Uh-huh, well anyway, she is nowasecretary for the Personnel Department of Best 8: Company. Gi, yeah, Patty Pineno is also working for that firm. LOIS-Gee, the class reunion is next year, isn't it? LULU-Yes, won't it be tremendous! LOIS-We ought to look up Bill Paoloni for some free passes to the Paramount theater, he manages all the theaters from New York to California. LULU-Really, I never thought he was that interested in movies. I'l1 bet he's seen so many movies by now that he can't even walk into his own theaters! LOIS'al, yes, I found out -- by way of the grapevine -- that Jack Fenner is financing Marie Policare's new Broadway show. That's what it is like to be a millionaire. LOIS-Good old Vincel Tommy J ames really surprised me. When I was skiing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, he came up to me and asked if I was Lois W. Lowe. When I answered yes, he told me he was a forest ranger in that area. Small world, isn't lt? LULU-I'Il say. Boy is that John Pizano making headlines! He just broke another record in Jet flying. Cheerleaders chosen were Faye Thomas, Dorothy Detrick, Gloria Korecki, and Mary Ann Lulewitz. Majorettes chosen were Rosalie Pagliarini, Nadine Naples, and Carol Ann Givler. September 23, 1952 Dear Diary: Oh Dear Diary, the annual Sophomore Reception was held today. Wearing ridiculous outfits the whole class marched into the auditorium to be initiated by the seniors. When the initiation was over, everyone went to the gym to dance and enjoy the delicious refreshments prepared by Miss Baldauski and her Home Economics classes. March 20, 1953 Tonight my class competed for the 810.00 cash prize in the annual play tournament. We didn't win but it was fun anyway. The play, under the direction of Mrs. Claire Conway, was called, Love Hits Wilbur. Members of the cast were Scott Trethaway, Nadine Naples, Mary Ann Lulewitz, Lois Lowe, Paul Cavanaugh and Bertha Trewern. September 9, 1953 Dear Diary: Today we held our first class meeting as Juniors. Our officers are John Pizano, President:Joe Yanik, Vice-President: Lois Lowe, Treasurer: and Eleanor Klimasiewfski, Secretary. September 27, 1953 Dear Diary: What a wonderful, wonderful evening I spent. I just got back from the annual Senior High Wiener Roast held at Wolves Grove. As soon as the buses pulled into the park everyone ran to ride the merry- go-round. Of course, the park manager had objections, but nothing could stop us. Nothing that is except our chaperones, Mr. Oleski, Mr. Mills, Miss McDonnell and Mrs. Conway. March 15, 1954 My class participated in the annual Play Tournament again this year by presenting The Youngest under the direction of Mrs. Bryden and Miss Wallace. Members of the cast were Mary Louise Pace, Vincent DeMedio, Paul Cavanaugh. John Rusnock, Arlene Smallacombe, and Anita Jean Fink. May 2, 1954 I woke up bright and early at 3:00 this morning to prepare for the Gettysburg trip. Mr. Jones, our chaperone, made sure everyone had a good time. After touring the state capital, we had dinner at the luxurious Penn Harris Plantation Room. May 23, 1954 My Dearest Dearest Diary: Tonight was truly A Night to Remember. We held our Junior Prom this evening in the high school gym. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing to the dreamy music of Al Anderson's orchestra. Towards the end of the evening John Pizano, dance chairman, crowned Arlene Smallacombe Queen to Remember. l'm sure the dance wouldn't have been halfas successful without the assistance of Mr. Mills and Mrs. Kelly, class advisors. Q September 27, 1954 Dear Diary: Tonight was the first chance for the class to prove that they were capable of handling the responsibil- ities of seniors. The weiner roast at Wolves Grove was successful. Our chaperones were Mr. Oleski, Mr. Keen, Mr. Podwika, and Mr. Piorkowski. They not only kept everyone from trouble but also made sure that a good time was had by all. October 27, 1954 Someone said that it is better to give than receive. Well today the seniors found much truth to that. It was our turn to initiate the Sophomores this year. We went at it in a big way. Most everyone was a good sport about it, too. After the initiation, everyone went to the gym for refreshments. November 26, 1954 Gi Dear Dear Diary: Tonight we, as seniors, held our first big dance. Arlene Smallacombe was dance chairman. She certainly did, a swell job. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing to the music of Lee Fisher and his Royal Four. 38 April 11, 1955 Dear Diary: I just got home from the Bunny Hop. When I read over this diary in years to come, the date April 11, 1955, is sure to recall many memories. May 20, 1955 Dear Diary: lf all the dances held by the class of 1956 are as successful as their Junior Prom, I'm sure their Senior year will be a year remembered by everyone. The Junior Prom was held in the High School Gym tonight. I had a simply wonderful time and I'm sure that everyone else that attended enjoyed themselves as much as I did. J une 3, 1955 Dear Diary: The Class of 1955 has taken another step towards graduation. Tonight was class night. I cried something awful while we sang our class song, Auf Wiedersehen. After theprogram, everyone went out and had a grand time. .Tune 'T , 1955 Well, Dear Diary, Tonight was the big night. The night so many of us have waited for for 12 years. As we walked down the aisles we could see our parents and friends smiling with tears in their eyes. I know everyone must have felt the same emptiness I did as I received my diploma. For 12 years I'thought, When I get my diploma that will be the end. I'1l be free to do as lplease. No more learning for me. But now I realize that graduation is not the end, for me or anyone. As long as there is life in our bodies, we will learn. Now as I have only a few 'lines left I will say. In years to come, you, dear diary, will bring back treasured moments. You will bring back the happy-go-lucky days of high school and memories of high school pals. Thank you, dear dear diary and now Good-bye.
