Signed, sealed, and delivered before the eyes of God on this third day of June in the year of our Lord, Ninetn hundred and fifty three. AMEN. C ASS Ill TORY On September 5, 1950 the colors royal purple and white represented the Class of '53. Our crew of 55 was now 'eady to fly through the smooth skies of high school life. We only feared the marauding Junior Space robbers who were tlways ready to send us retreating into the nearest planet of safety. Mr. Young, acting in the capacity of General, brmally christened our rocket ship at the Sophomore Reception by initiating the members of our crew. Because of our relief in their ability, 'we chose the following as ship's pilots. President Robert Coxe, Vice-President Eleanor Rutski, Secretary Lorraine Kolesky, and Treasurer Joseph Maffei supervised by Mr. Jones and Mrs. Conway. We flew smoothly or one month, landing for our Sophomore Weiner Roast at Wolf's Grove, Sylvan Lake. The remainder of the first light of our trip was spent in deep thought and careful study. In June we landed for a three months' vacation. After our summer leave was over, we started out on the second flight. To take command in our Junior year we elected the following: President Jerolne Knopp, Vice -President Joann Warnagiris, Secretary Eleanor Rutski, Treas- lrer Martin Sedlock supervised by Mr. Mills and Mrs. Kelly. Now that we were experienced space pilots, we dared to ly off into the dark of night and haunt the young and inexperienced pilots, namely the sophomores. As aform of enter- Lalnment our crew was granted an evening's leave to have a Wiener roast at Wolf 's Grove. The crew went roller skat- ng, farmer dancing, and exploring. Our next event was the play tournament. We courageously defended ourselves in he play tournament by presenting the winning play, Hillbilly Sue under the direction of Miss McDonnell. The crew vho helped in making this a winning play were Suzie Gillespie, Joan Kern, Albert Andrejko, Jerome Knopp, Joann Namagiris, Edward Lottick, Theresa Bednarz and Ann Dixon. Two oumtanding members of the crew were Bobby Coxe md Al Andre jko. Bobby Coxe, won the state contest for Employ the Handicapped. Al Andrejko made the all-scholastic :eam in his Junior year. The next event was on May 3, guided by Mr. Jones, we landed at Harrisburg. We explored he city carefully and ate chow at the Plantation Room of the Penn Harris Hotel. After chow we flew on to Gettys- xurg. After looking over the battlefield, we set out again. In the spring of '52 we began making plans for our Junior 'rom. We landed and held our Prom on the planet, Wyoming. The gym in which the Prom was held had been beauti- 'ully decorated in pastel shades, pink, blue, green, and yellow. The music of Al Andreson cast a romantic spell over ill. This event brought to a happy close the second flight. Leaving the airport for the third and final flight of high school, we now realized that we had finally earned the Litle of High School Student, Senior Grade. We elected the following pilots to carry us through our last year of high Lchool. President Robert Coxe, Vice-President Edward Lottick, Secretary Joann Warnagiris, Treasurer Mary Melone .upervised by Mr. Podwika and Mrs. Bryden. Our chosen editor, Eleanor Rutski and co-editor Charles Givler had already zegun work on the '53 Monument. Because of the exciting time we had had at Wolf's Grove the last two years, we de- :ided to land there once again for our wiener roast. The crew downed sizzling hot dogs and cider around a bright :heery fire. We boarded the rocket at 11:30, after a very entertaining evening. On Thanksgiving we held our annual Turket Trot. Music was provided by the Hightones. Bucky Hiznay was :hosen the best football player of the year. On December 5, we presented our ,Senior play, Bolts and Nuts, under the iirection of Miss McDonnell. The cast was as follows: Benita Bolt, Eleanor Rutski: Lutie Spinks, Theresa Bednarzg lebecca Bolt, loan Kem: Martha Grubb, Della Paoloni: Twink Starr, Robert Coxe: Dr. Hippocrates Joy, Edward Lottickg C ASS lll TORY e0nt'd Henry Goober, Louella Mazzarellaz Phineas Plunkett, Charles Givler: Miss Pmnella Fig, Theresa Oleskyg Cadwallz Clippy, A1 Andrejko: Mrs. Gertie Glossop, Ann Dixon: Wilbur Glossop, Joseph Slebodag Jack Gordon, Robert Kirchl We studied hard for our finals. We watched television while awaiting our final marks. We all came through v flying colors. The last event of our high school life and the last time we would all be together was the trip to New Y: We all had a swell time even though some of us came home the same day. The two most important days of our life were now over and we still felt like Seniors. It was really hard to belit that we are now graduates. Class Night and Commencement, so long awaited have both come and gone. We are r ready to fly through the rough airways of life. Whereupon, the nuts start to pour in, and the fun begins in earnest. Lutie Spinks, the man-hating mai has a nervous habit of winking that ets her into trouble with flirtatious men patients. Gertie Glossop has a gerr phobia and all but asphysiates everybosy else with her spraying machines. Caldwalleder Clippy has a cat-phobia and rightened nearly out of his wits by the pep cat of little Wilbur, a problem child. Prunella Figg suffers from claustr phobia, Martha Grubb, the cook, fairlywallows in melancholy, and Plunkett, the foxy family lawyer, develops a pets cution complex, while Henry, the darky porter, has a natural fear of lunatics. Even Twink Starr, Benita's boyfrier who is very much disliked by Aunt Rebecca, joins the nuts in disguise of Caesar, in hop? of softening the hard heart Rebecca. Hilarious situations develop with the arrival of Dr. Hippocrates Joy, a psyc iatrist, who undertakes to ct the patients. Complications multiply as Rebecca searches for her deceased brother's money, which he has left hidd about the house, providing in a freak will that a portion of it is to go to anyone who happens to find it. It soon becorr apparent that most of the patients are faking their various phobias in order to search for it. Its final discovery by Twi Starr, forms a fitting climax for this fast-moving comedy of many laughs. BENITA BOLT LUTIE SPINKS REBECCA BOLT P. PLUNKETT HENRY GOOBER MISS PRUNELLA FIGG DR. Cm FOUTBALL The Wyoming Redskins of 1952 carried on an unsuccessful campaign until they set their siglhts on their most bitter rivals, Exeter and West Wyoming. These victories gave to the tribe two precious scalps at offset the rest of the season's losses. The one thatbrings back pleasant memories is the 19 to drubbing handed West Wyoming in the annual turkey classic. Wyoming's eleven started the season with their hopes set high, but then the breaks wouldn't allow this bud to blossom into a glorious flower. In the first game Sal Cometa and Joe Reback played a stunning defensive game that kept Wilkes-Barre Township from scoring through the line. But fate layed a disloyal hand on the affair that saw two intercepted passes taken for touchdowns an a 14-0 loss for Wyoming. For their first meeting of the two schools Duryea had a rugged afternoon. Geno DePietro was the offensive star galloping 25 yards for our first score. Duryea won 33-13. Wyoming then faced the rough and ready boys from Edwardsville who went home with a 33- 0 triumph. Leaving their reservation the Redskin tribe met West Pittston who scored 3 TD!s in the last arter to defeat Wyoming 32-6. But alas, two u -and-coming braves, Jerry Mislan and Thomas James, showed qd'-feir true courageby making crushing tackles througglout the contest. Shickshinny moved in the following Saturday. Thomas, Golden Arm, Doty led a vicious passing attack on the Shicks, but the boys from down the river left with an 18-6 win. Bob, The Bull, Skursky bulled his way through the Forty Fort line to star. Pittston scoring twice in the last 6 minutes snatched a Wyomin victory by a 12-6 score. Cracking off the tackles, Joe, Speedy, Shady ran wild. Joe, Big Buck, Hiznay and Biily Williams led the crusade that bettered the Exeter eleven 20-12. A second half rally was stalled off by Thomas, Hold That Line, Palko. Pulling a sneaky-pete , Westmoreland scored early in the game and then held off a vicious attack for a 'I-6 win. Franny McGinley and Ed, The Rock, Andrejko kept the KT team in the shadows of their goal post most of the afternoon. Then the day of reckoning came. Wyoming was led by Captain A1 Andrejko who made two scores to a lavishing 19-0 trium h over the West Wyoming Cow- boys. Marty, Snatch That Pass, Sedlock played a sensational offensive and clfefensive game for the Redskins. Wyoming gained additional recognition by having Jerry Mislan selected to an All-Conference tackle berth. Thus far the team has won 6 out of 18 games. Victories over Du ont, West Wyoming, and St. John's were included in the pre-season contests. The REDSKINS were flocked witg plenty of talent in their First Five. At the forward posts were Bob Fig Perialas, the brilliant Side Shot Artist, Joe Muha Szura, our drive-in specialist. At the center post was Marty Big Mart Sedlock, whose hei ht aided the team. Holding the guard positions were Joe Bucky Hiznay, the playmaker of the team, and JacE Girls Fermer, a dangerous man under the baskets. The capable reserve squad composed of Tom Doty, Bernie Bender, Jack Nelson, Billy Williams, and Scot Trethaway added strength to the varsity. Wyoming fans will long remember this combination for years to come.
