ADMISSIOIN NURSE MISS MAE O'BRIEN Our School of Nursing began in 1919 with an eight- month practical course taught by the doctors. Miss O'Brien was the first graduate at this time. Then in 1923 the nrst formal graduation of practical nurses took place. In September, 1939 a class under a registered school of nursing was graduatedg and at the present time the School of Nursing is accredited by the New York Department of Education. Graduates completing the three-year pre- scribed course are eligible to take the New York State licensing examination for registered Professional Nurses. Miss Mary Griffiths became the Director of Nurses for the School of Nursing on July 7, 1948. 23
