Their Own Personality Usually, the sound of the first period tone brought moans and groans from students as they settled down for another ordinary day. Every five minutes, several eyes were lifted to the clock, anxiously awaiting the next tone. From this, one would gather that WHS students dreaded the mention of school. But in spite of the complaints and the apparent boredom, a lot of people looked forward to it each morning. What was the reason? It was the students themselves. Talking and laughing with friends between classes and during lunch lifted the burden of tests and homework. Sharing the unusual experiences like the state football championships with others brought students closer together. It was comforting to know you weren't the only one who thought you were going to flunk that history test, and that everyone else was just as nervous as you were about giving an oral book report. Some students even found that teachers were people too when they let down their guard and told a joke or story in class. Even though school was a symbol for studying and homework, it was the personality of each individual that made it special.
