His determined effort to make us satisfied and happy will always be remembered as one of our most precious high school memories. Words cannot ex- press our appreciation for his leading part in making this a successful school year; but to show how much we love, honor, and respect him, the 1956 Stinger Staff dedicates the '56 Stinger to our principal, Mr. H.B. Hardy. ■ I I II.I. ........................................ —...................... MRS. JOHN TARBUTTON Secretary to the Superintendent MRS. Constituting our happy group were the following members: Wayne Armstrong, Martha Anderson, Mary Anne Baus, Jerry Black, Peggy Bledsoe, Billy Ray Brooks, Ray Burroughs, Bill Cooper, Donald Dallas, Barbara Davis, Loretta Durborow, Clarence Ford, Clyde Ford, Neal Foust, Pat Graff, Peggy Holleman, Larry Hoots, Camilla Jones, Carolyn Lane, Marilyn Lowrey, Clarence Meeks, Charles and Margaret McMinn, Patricia Mc- Murtry, Billy Mitchell, Jimmie Lou Murray, Billy Neal, Bobby Ragan, and Shelby South. Having glided through the first year on a cloud, our group proceeded to the second grade with over-confidence! Larry Futrell from Vanndale, Elaine Chastain from Heber Springs, and James Elam from Harrisburg joined our group the first of the year and got in on all the fun. In the third grade, we were joined by Diane Christopher from DeSoto, Mo., Joe Andrews from Rolfe, and Ivolene Stepp, who skipped the second grade just to be with us! By '41 we were old veterans, and our fourth grade class found additions of J. B. Pittman from New Hope, Darrell Sherman from Rolfe, and Jimmy Moore from Paragould. In the fifth grade, Robert Faulkner from Paragould, Nickie Hultsman from Little Rock, along with C. V. Ford, joined our growing class. In the sixth grade, we got lazy and didn't solicit any new members. As the first seventh graders in the new building, we saw a flood of new faces join us. They were: Georgia Caubble, Larry Sullivan, Lynda Gaynor, Pat Lindley, Laverne Mauppin, and Nathan Hall from New Hope; John Shaw, Mary Bell Spencer, Jeanette Vaught, Datie Jones, and Camilla Jones from McElroy; Gary Fronabarger and John Crangle from McCrory; Viola Stewart and Wayne Young from Fair Oaks; Lennie South and Lavina Shahan from Mebane; Billy Neal from Paragould, Betty Jeffers from Center School, Pat Dangeau from Forrest City, Jimmie Lou Murray from Hughes, Bill Cooper from Hickory Ridge, Stella Haynes from Gailey, and Joe Andrews from Cherry Valley. By the eighth grade, we were over our shyness, so Geneva Willis and Jackie South from Mebane, and James Richardson from Clinton joined us. In our eventful Freshman year, we were joined by Donald Franklin and Jimmy Young from McKnight, Camilla Jones from Turrell, and David Harmon from Cherry Valley. Joe Andrews re-joined us from St. Peter’s Catholic School. As Sophomores, our group was still growing, and we were joined by Livian Shahan from St. Louis, Charles McCoy from Florida and C.V. Ford (again) from Little Rock. We then lazily undertook the activities of our junior year. We managed to have the best Halloween Carnival ever had, the best Junior Class play ever had, and the best banquet ever had, the theme being Hawaiian. We were helped by Myrtle Miller from Camden, Larry Hoots from Colorado Springs, Mary Anne Baus and Ruthie Hess from Holy Angels in Jonesboro, C.V. Ford (!) from Little Rock, Keith Swindle from Hickory Ridge, Mary Alice Bowman, who skipped the seventh grade, and Patricia McMurtry. Our Senior year, we skipped to school and began the year's studies and activities. There has been a great deal of illness in our class this year, as the absentee list would have shown any day. But the one that everyone was concerned over is pale Neal Foust, who undoubtedly is in very bad health. Our absentee-riddled group was joined by Richard Beeson from Harding Academy in Searcy and Jonathan Moore from Little Rock this year. Our sponsors for the year were the dear old sweet things, Coach Stephens and Mrs. Thomas.
