Secretaries carne to school each day this year only to find an- other pile of work had found its way to their desks. The secretaries were an es- sential part of our lives at Groves. Each day lvlary Burg had to listen to new excuses as to why a stu- dent should be excused from his truancy. In the counselling office, Gladys Foxley was constantly M' bothered with counselor appoint- n'1ents and schedules. Groves' bookkeeper, Delores Sheppard, kept accounts for all clubs and organizations. She also collected the fines for all the books we lost. Each day, while students as- sisted in the office, secretaries took their well-deserved break. By the end of the day, piles of work had vanished and secretaries were able to go HOFTWE and look forward to tornorrow. Do secretaries have more fun? ABOVE EIGHT: Gladys Foxley looks up frorn her work to greet a student. FIIGI-lT: Florence Clhanesian stops her typing to answer the constant phone. BELOW: lvlary Burg explains to a student that a shopping spree is not an excuse for a truancy. 5? EB Secretaries
