SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On September 8, 1953, 8 group of H5 Freshmen anxiously began their four year course of high school One of the first things we did was to elect officers Fingerson, Vice President Irwin Gustafson, and Treasurer Angela advisor and Darlene Schwier our initiation by the Seniors The and T shirts Their hair was in a They were President-Connie Stender, Secretary-Mary Linn Vogel Mr Sheff was our class cheerleader Next in line was girls were daddy's old overalls up sweep with green bows The boys came in ladies slips over long underwear Their hair was parted in the middle and they wore a plastic bag over their head All of us had an egg beater and sign reading Uwe can't beat the Seniorsu, around our necks As the year wore on we became more familiar with the activites of high school and began to take part in them Most of us were in the band or chorus, Phy Ed on the Aureum staff September 7, 1951+ we came back proud to be Sophomores were minus three class members but gained four new ones usual we held a class meeting and elected officers Irwin Ste der was our new President, Marlys Vehrenkamp Vice President Mary Linn Gustafson Secretary, and Verdonn Meyer Treasurer Mrs Quist was our class advisor and Darlene Schwier again our cheer leader We had charge of the Christmas party for the high school, and decorated for Baccalaureate and Commencement be the busiest of any class in high school First of all we chose class officers who were Arlyn Nordhorn, President, Myron Nash, Vice President, Wendell Freiheit, Secretary, and Mary Earley, Treasurer Class Advisors were Mrs Glady and Yr. Grbich Darlene was our cheerleader we started earning money for the Prom by selling refreshments at the ball games In January, the big Job of selling magazines came our way Then it was time to s art working on our class play, Shy Guy' As soon as that was over with we bagan decorating for the Prom The theme was an Oriental setting called UShangr1la The final event of the year was Baccalaureate and Commencement Arlyn Nordhorn and Mary Earley led the Seniors and Sharon Bolles played the Processional and Recessional Seniors' Almost too good to be true we received ou class rings about two weeks before school started Then we had our Graduation pictures taken at welke's Studio we ordered name cards and graduation announcements and then began working on the Annual Class officers for the year were Arlyn Nordhorn, President, Jim Austin, Vice President, Angela Vogel, Secretary, and Marlys Vehrenkamp, Treasurer Our class advisors were M Chambers and Mr Holum was our annual advisor Darlene Schwier was our cheerleader and June Mosher, head majorette Angela Vogel was chosen editor of the Annual Marlys Vehrenkamp and Jim Austin were crowned King and Queen at Homecoming We also put on a class play which climaxed the events of the year On May 31, 1957 the Commencemnt Exercises were held Thus ends our four years here at Wykoff High School Class Colors Royal Blue and Silver Class Flower White Rose Class Motto -uIn Ourselves Our Future Lied O I O .
