Under the guidance of Coach Francis Swoim, the Wyandotte harriers scheduled eight meets for the year. The Bulldogs won two of the meets, took second twice, and third twice. ln the state-wide K.U. lnterscholastic Cross Country Meet the Wyandotte team captured fifth place in a field of eighteen large Kansas high schools. From a squad of twelve Kenny Lyon led in individual scoring leading the pack to the finish line twice, and by taking two second places. Lyon also led the Wyan- dotte squad in the state meet. The other boys who lettered and scored for the Bulldogs were Captain Bob Riley, Larry Williams, John Redick, and Bob Baker. Tumbling, which had been abandoned at Wyandotte in the l930's, was revived by Coach Orville McHenry in 1947. Since that time the team has developed into the highly skilled and entertaining group of tumblers that we have all enjoyed during the half time of our home basketball games. Although they gave many exhibitions during the year and performed in the Variety Show, the tumblers did not enter interscholastic competition. T' captain of this yeor's squad was Harry Carey.
