Many students at Wyandotte do not know that their high school is the only one in the state of Kansas that has fifteen minutes of free radio time every week during the first semester. Only a few capable students are chosen for the radio production course which is spon- sored by ,Mr. H. A. Billingsley, They are all members of the National Scholastic Radio and Television Guild, whose pin is pictured below. Each week the members have a different responsibility. By the end of the semester they must have completed the following: a major speaking part, directing, announcing, super- vising of sound effects, and adapting a fifteen minute radio script as well as writing an original script of their own. ' Maybe you have seen the radio production class leaving sixth hour on Thursday after- noons and wondered where they were going. After practicing all week on dramatic plays or a talent program, they make a tape recording each Thursday at the KCKN studio which is then presented at eight o'clock the following Sunday night. At the end of the program, as the theme song continues until the clock ticks off the remaining seconds, the members put away their scripts 'with a sigh hoping that next week will be as successful. , by Kathy McCaughey
