Rendering outstanding services and exercising Christian leadership in the school and community is the purpose of the Hi-Y Club. This year the boys went to a district conference at Shawnee Mission and attended a State Model Legislature in Topeka. The club held their sixteenth annual Hi-Y Talent Show with President Bill Gillett acting as master of ceremonies. Clyde Hartford, the veteran Hi-Y counselor of Kansas and Camp Wood fame, held personal interviews with the boys. Officers are: president, Bill Gillettg vice-president, Richard Conkling secretary, James Henreg and treasurer, Art Lasher. Sponsors are Mr. Plummer, Mr. Stubblefield, and Mr. Divelbiss. The Y-Teen organization, a junior branch of Y.W.C.A., is open to all Wyandotte girls. There is a membership of eighty-five girls this year. Outstanding activities include sending chocolates to foreign countries and helping Santa during the pre-Christmas holiday season in Huron Park. Services to the school included the selling of pencils containing football and basketball schedules and presenting Easter services for four days preceding our Easter vacation. Sponsors are Lavina F. Dille, Mary Crown, Helen Pajeki, and Lois Darr. One of their major activities this year was an overnight camping trip at Camp Towanyak near Quivira Lake. They have had several nice parties. They give service by selling refreshments at the mixers and helping with Christmas decorations. At Christmas time, they also take care of a needy family.
