WILLIS H. SHELL Retiring l93h--l974 In 1934 a new coach came to Wyandotte Public Schools, he was Willis H. Shell, in 936 he became principal and served as principal and coach for the next ten years. His ability as a coach was shown in the record of Shell coached teams, the l937 otball team is still cited as one of the greatest at W1H.S., for its record as an scored upon team still stands. Not only will he be remembered as a great coach but as a man who became super- tendent in 1946 and his excellence as a coach is reflected in his administrative ility. Under his supervision Wyandotte schools have grown--a new gym, primary chool, high school, junior high, and woodworking shop building. He demanded much of his co-workers and gave even more of himself in his untiring fforts to make Wyandotte Schools the best. Now, in 1974 after devoting forty years to coaching, teaching, and administra- ive work, he is retiring, for him, Mr. W. H. S. himself, and for his efforts at ettering the knowledge of all Wyandotte students we wish him much happiness and con- entment in his retirement. HONORED FOR LONG SERVICE Willis H. Shell, superintendent of Wyandotte Public Schools for forty yeafs is shown receiving a placque from Jim Peck, president of the school board during grad- uation exercises Tuesday, May 21.
